Stayed on 27-29/11/24 Shared Dormitory, men only 6 bulks, shared bathroom. Pro : 1) next to Carrefour and 400 meter walking distance to metro Port de Valenciennes 2) very helpful front staffs that have arranged breakfast bag for me due to leave early to Belgium on 28 and CDG on the next day thanks :) 3) Kitchen( you can cook or heat up your take out food ) even the utensils that's not look clean that's o.k for me) and the decent dining area 4) CBF (Including) that's come with Cold Cuts and Cheese that's a plus 5) Lots of open space to chill out 6) free pull table 7) Bars and Reception are in the same area 8) Elevator and key-card that accessed to your room Con: All about the room 1)Bed : this is 6 bulks bed shared men only with head light that's not working 2) Power sockets are European type you definitely need adapter and located at the wall not on your overhead 3) Privacy: no curtains to attached on any bulks that's why some people reviewed like a jail bed 😆 4) Iron rules: Every single guests have to bring all 3 cover sheets back to front desk before check out 5) Charging station there is only one and located next to reception desk that's fit 5 individual phones and accessed by your index fingerprint and indicate charging status by its color ( red green and black( no light on that means your phone is fully charged )sometimes not working so you need to press really hard though think about in Sommer time folks 😂 😂 😂 have a nice stay !

An ok value-for-money deal. You get what you pay for, which here means "not much". For 50 euros / night with breakfast included you can't expect 5* hotel experience. Pros - Great and helpful staff - Cheap Cons - private bathroom is smelly, and stained. - private shower has low water pressure, no detachable head. It's more of a public pool shower. - bright white light you can't turn off inside the room, ask the reception for a makeshift solution (a cardboard box). - breakfast quality is low. - fixed windows you can't open unless you ask the reception for a handle.

My girlfriend and I just spent the weekend at the hostel. We weren't expecting much for €21 a night - it's the only place we could stay in the area because of our age - but we were expecting more than what we were greeted with.

We entered the hostel and were pleased with the initial service. The staff were nice enough and had a smile. However, we found our room and were greeted with a white, concrete container box. The floors were cold and concrete, the furniture metal, the room all white. Scuffs and marks on the floor and walls, and dust in the (not-lockable) lockers and other surfaces. There was even mould growing on the floor and between the tiles in the bathroom. Lovely.

The beds were comfy for the price, and the little lights were good additions on the walls. However, the noise through the paper thin walls to the corridor kept us awake multiple nights, especially one night when a large group of people were screaming and running in the corridors. Absolutely no control or care from anyone.

On top of this, when removing our sheets at the end of our stay (as asked by the staff), we were abhorred to see brown, yellow and grey stains and marks on the insides of the covers, on the pillows and even engrained into the plastic-coated mattress. Safe to say we put our gloves on to carry the sheets to the laundry.

Overall - the hostel is a cheap place to stay in what is an absolutely beautiful city, and has good metro connections direct to the centre. It is alright for the price. But I wouldn't recommend it for anyone who has the money - or the age - to stay anywhere...

The pillows were lumpy with stains and there were hairs and toenails on the bed when we went in. The beds were so squeaky and tipped when we got on them, the mattresses had stands on them and had a funny smell. Our keycards did not work and had to get them sorted out. Our room was so small, barely enough room for two people let alone the three that we had in there. our shower was broken and very claustrophobic. we were on the fourth floor and out window opened fully wide with no safety at all. The chicken was pink and undercooked and the rice tasted like gravel. The yogurts for breakfast were lumpy and stringy, the apple juice was diluted and had no taste. The lift doors opened for no more than 20 seconds and squished us multiple times, some of the doors to our rooms opened form the outside and the workers walked into our rooms at random times to empty our bin. The rooms looked like prison cells with metal beds and a small table with 3 wired chairs which took up all of the floor room. the lights by our bed looked like cameras and there was no light in the shower room which was no bigger than 1 metre squared and tiled all around with dark blue tiled and a mirror the size of my hand. The area was really dodgy with constant sirens and drunk men running on the roads.|Do not visit. better places...
