Lucy and I arrived in the late afternoon of a ridiculously hot day. We had ridden all the way from Calais and felt the temperature climb into the high 30's C.||||The hotel is two floors of back to back rooms, each side of the building is served by a central stairway leading onto walkways acessing the rooms. The rooms are not huge and have a bathroom "system" which is a plastic cubicle dropped into one corner. The bathroom has all you'd need a toilet, basin and a shower. All of which are functional and work perfectly well.||||The most outstanding article in the room is the air conditioning . . . . which we both huddled under for some considerable time . . perfect.||||The double bed is foam and verges on "hard", but if you're knackered enough you won't notice. I'm assuming that there are twin rooms and family rooms as well as the double room we had.||||Did I mention the air conditioning ?||||The Hotel only serves a continental breakfast, but the surrounding area which has a definite out of town shops/industrial estate feel has several restaurants within a few minutes walk, all of which appear pretty good.||||This Hotel is designed and priced for artisans/professionals and is devoid of frills. It has a large fenced in parking area, with a gate which shuts in the evening, and is just what we needed for one night.||||By the way, the rooms are air...
Read moreThe 2nd star only goes because of the staff was really nice. The room was terrible, although indicated it’s a nonsmoking, stinking from cigarette, nicotin on the walls, so we asked for another one. It was only a little bit better, cigarette-burnt holes on the blanket and also our pillows and the mattrasse were stinking if tabacco. I understand, that it’s a 1 star hotel, we also stayed only during a longer trip to sleep somewhere, so I didn’t have giant expectations, but the skin of my 4 month old son was smelling like nicotin and other disgusting tabacco remains in the morning. I regret that I was not leaving the hotel after getting the 2nd stinking room and still feeling the cigarette smell. It’s one thing to be cheap and sample, and another thing to endanger the health of people by thirdhand smoking, and sell your rooms as non-smoking. If you have problems with peope not respecting smoking rules, put a smoke detector. By the way putting a sticker of “non smoking” is not gonna make dissapear the remains of decades of smoking in a room. So unless you are a smoker or you are happy to stay after smokers, don’t choose a room...
Read moreI have used Premiere Classe before, and whilst it is not luxury (obviously for the price) they are usually ok for a night.||||This time however, it was terrible. I used the auto check in to get my room key. Got to my room, and it stank of smoke, like it had just been smoked in before walking into the room.||||Had to wait ages to speak to the receptionist, who said she couldn't offer a new room (even though it was 6pm in the evening and she was highly likely to have spare rooms). the only thing she offered was to give me a spray bottle of chemicals to hide the smell. ||||I did not want to stay in a room which smelt of smoke and chemicals so I called my travel agent who had booked the hotel. Hotels.com tried to speak to the receptionist and she was not willing to offer another room. They cancelled my booking and i traveled on to another city and...
