Very disappointing experience at this hotel. From the moment we arrived, the attitude of the staff was unacceptable, especially at the reception and restaurant. Joana at the front desk stood out in the worst way — no smile, no welcome, and a general feeling that guests are a bother, not a priority.
We arrived with a pram and a baby, and both lifts were out of order. Instead of offering help or even a simple apology, the response was: “You can take the stairs.” No empathy or assistance.
At the restaurant, no one knew how to operate the microwave, and again, no one seemed remotely interested in helping.
The worst part was when I briefly asked to keep an eye on my son for a few seconds at the reception while I was placing some milk in the baggage row, just a few steps away. There was no customers at the time that should be looked after and several staff free. Nothing was said at the time — but later, when I referred the staff situation to the manager (the blond lady) her response was defensive, rude, and inappropriate. Rather than showing empathy or acknowledging the lack of support, she blamed me for having dared ask her staff to “help” even for a few seconds. This kind of reaction is unacceptable and shows a complete lack of basic customer care.
I left feeling extremely uncomfortable. There was zero sense of service, no kindness, and no effort to make guests feel welcome. Definitely not what you expect from a hospitality team, and certainly not a “wow” experience.
Her comment regarding my son showed a total lack of customer care and, frankly, a deep level of disrespect. This kind of reaction is unacceptable and reflects very poorly on...
Read moreOur stay at Hotel L’Orangine in Menton was a mixed experience. The location is excellent, situated in a beautiful part of town, and the building itself is stunning, boasting remarkable architecture that immediately catches the eye. However, despite these promising features, the hotel operator has not capitalized on the potential of this charming property.
The garden is superb, providing a serene and picturesque environment. Unfortunately, the potential of this space has not been fully utilized. The addition of facilities such as a swimming pool, a winter garden, a coffee shop, or an outdoor restaurant would significantly enhance the guest experience.
The rooms were a disappointment. They appeared cheap and lacked basic amenities, such as a fridge. The mattresses were old and exceedingly uncomfortable, to the extent that we felt compelled to leave the hotel before our intended departure date, having booked for a couple of nights.
The breakfast room, although visually stunning, failed to deliver on its promise. Breakfast was served on plastic trays reminiscent of a low-cost canteen, and the food quality was subpar. There was no fresh juice, no fruits, and the coffee was particularly unpleasant.
Overall, I cannot recommend a stay at Hotel L’Orangine. There are better options available in Menton at the same price point, which offer a more comfortable and...
Read moreVery good location but bad rooms. We got 2 rooms. 1 room’s AC didn’t work well. Technician will not come until Tuesday (we checked in on Saturday). 1 bathroom curtain stinks of either ACV or a fat sweaty old man’s body odour. Floors not vacuumed well. Several switches seemed to be unconnected to lights, had to try every one to get the correct light. No tissue boxes provided. Some power points don’t work. 1 room’s lamp doesn’t work. Shower area is 3 tiles wide. An adult showering will cause the toilet and sink floor area to be completely soaked with water. Hair dryer cables are short which makes it difficult to dry hair. Hairdryer adapter keeps dropping. There’re washing machines, dryers, ironing boards & irons but ill-maintained. Very dirty. First night’s buffet dinner was meh..we have 7 nights here and it’s only the 2nd😭 . Walls are paper-thin. Can hear the kids/people talking in the next room’s bathroom. Also people walking along the corridor. Only 2 good points here: hotel parking is sheltered, so the car stays cool; location to amidst cafes/parks/supermarkets/beach/restaurants. Didn’t liaise much with service staff so...
