THE WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE IN MY LIFE! THIS HOTEL NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED IMMEDIATELY! DON'T STAY THERE, IT IS UNSAFE, STAFF ARE INCOMPETENT AND THREATENING!||The French guy at reception is a misogynist predator who told me I WAS NOT NICE ENOUGH TO HIM! I felt so unsafe because of his attitude I asked for my money back and left after checking in! I want to make a formal complaint to the City of Paris and the Federation Auberge de Jeunesse about this guy and the way this place is run.The full story is as followed:||I booked for 2 nights at le Dartagnan. I am a female British citizen travelling for work in Paris but I love staying in hostel meeting people and saving money.||So I arrived around 9pm at the hostel and checked in and paid with my bank card, the french receptionist was so unpleasant and took about 20 minutes to check in 2 people! My female friend accompanied me to the hostel as it is very far from the centre of Paris. After checking in I offer to buy a drink for my friend who accompanied me all the way here, in the bar downstairs.|| We went down and awaited someone to serve us. There was just 1 other customer and The hostel was deserted. When the receptionist finally arrived we ordered 2 drinks for 5 euros. I only had 4 euros in coins. Then I was told I cannot pay with my bank card for less than 5 euros so I ordered another drink just so I can Pay with my bankcard.|| I was making jokes with my friend and the other guest about Brexit and I was in a very cheerful mood having had a 12 hours work day! The french receptionist serve the 3 drinks and my friend started drinking. I put my bank card on the hotel contacless machine and the machine did not work. I put my pin and we tried over 5 times on various cards and THE HOTEL BANK MACHINE NEVER WORKED!!!||The french receptionist then said we had to pay cash. I said no problem but you know I told you I only have 4 euros cash so I will get some the remaining 3 EURO cash tomorrow and drop it as reception. I am staying here 2 days I am not going to run away with 3 euros!!!!The french receptionist then said it was out of ||question and took back the 3 drinks which we started drinking already and told us to get the 3 EUROS cash our he will throw away the drinks in 15 minutes! ||We were just shocked a his behaviour.I was told me there is a cash machine 20 minutes from there. I just thought this is crazy to make us walk outside in an unsafe neighbourhood at night because THE HOTEL DOES NOT HAVE BANK CARD MACHINE THAT WORKS!!||Ultimately my friend did not want our evening to be ruined so she went to the receptionist and ask if he could cash the 3 euros on the bank machine at reception desk which worked because I paid my there. The receptionist refused. ||Which just shows unwillingness, bad behaviour and complete lack of customer service skills. The other hotel guest even jump in the conversation and found it outrageous!!!||My friend convince me to walk the 20 minutes to get the 3 euros cash and come back have our drink. THERE IS NOTHING IN THE AREA SO WE DID NOT EVEN HAVE ANOTHER CHOICE TO GET A DRINK. I had heavy luggage so my female friend offered to help me upstairs to put my luggage before we had to walk 20 minutes outside. As we were leaving the hotel the receptionist followed me outside and ask me why my friend went upstairs to which I explained that she was || just trying to help me with luggage and there was no need to try to create another issue since we already have to walk 20 minutes in an unsafe neighbourhood. ||The receptionist than told me I was not 'NICE' enough to him! Upon hearing this I told him that's enough I FEEL VERY UNSAFE STAYING IN THIS HOTEL WITH SOMEONE LIKE HIM AROUND! Since I arrived in the hotel he has made me feel unsafe and has made it clear he would make my stay miserable and unsafe! ||I TOLD HIM I WANTED MY MONEY BACK AND I WILL NOT STAY IN THAT HOTEL! I went upstairs to get my luggage and took my money back and we left that hotel in the middle of the night rather than stay here.||THAT RECEPTIONIST GUY NEEDS TO BE FIRED AND THE POLICE SHOULD INVESTIGATE THE MALE STAFF THERE! ||-There is clearly ABUSE OF POWER going on!!! ||-Maybe he thought because I am a female and he can demand this from me? ||-I demand the French police to investigate this place because GUESTS AT A HOTEL ARE NOT T BE TOLD BY A RECEPTIONIST TO BE 'NICE' TO THEM PARTICULARLY AFTER HIS LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS!!||-If this is how they treat a female who can stand their ground how did he treat more vulnerable people and kids who stay in this place!||THIS HOTEL NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED IMMEDIATELY!||DON'T STAY THERE, IT IS UNSAFE, STAFF ARE INCOMPETENT AND...

My recent stay at Hostel d'Artagnan in Paris was undoubtedly one of the most distressing experiences I have ever had, and it is with great concern that I share this review to caution potential guests about the numerous issues that plagued my visit.
To begin, I must address the reception staff, who were not only aggressive and intimidating but also displayed concerning behavior. Specifically, the individual with long hair was noticeably under the influence of drugs throughout the day. His disheveled appearance and erratic behavior created an uncomfortable environment that left everyone feeling uneasy and unsafe. Furthermore, it became apparent that these staff members falsely accused clients of various things in an attempt to assert their authority and derive some twisted sense of satisfaction. Such manipulative tactics are deeply disturbing and highlight a complete lack of professionalism and respect for guests.
Adding to my disappointment, the majority of visitors staying at this hostel seemed uninterested in socializing. Many of them were in France solely to look for employment and showed no inclination to engage in social interactions or foster a friendly atmosphere. Instead, some guests displayed disruptive behavior, including loud talking during the night and inconsiderate use of bright lights. It was clear that the hostel attracted a mix of individuals, including psychiatric patients, which further contributed to a chaotic and unsettling environment.
As echoed in other reviews, the presence of coach roaches in the rooms was an appalling and unhygienic issue that simply cannot be overlooked. Despite the absence of any visible signs of uncleanliness, these repulsive pests infested the sleeping quarters. The distressing experience of having hundreds of coach roaches crawling on your face at night was nothing short of a nightmare.
Hostel d'Artagnan must urgently address and rectify these severe issues if they wish to salvage their rapidly plummeting reputation. The treatment of guests, the lack of social atmosphere, and the infestation of coach roaches are all indicators of a hostel that has lost sight of basic hospitality standards.
In conclusion, I strongly advise against choosing Hostel d'Artagnan in Paris as your accommodation option. The aggressive and intimidating reception staff, the unsocial and disruptive atmosphere, and the presence of coach roach infestations create an utterly appalling and distressing experience. I implore prospective guests to explore alternative hostels in Paris that prioritize guest well-being, maintain cleanliness, and treat their visitors with the respect and dignity...
Read moreMy friend and I stayed at this hostel for one night, and it was by far the most horrific experience of our lives. It has left us both too frightened to ever consider visiting Paris again, and I, for one, am adamant about avoiding it in the future. I deeply regret not reading reviews before deciding on this hostel for our stay.||||Returning around midnight after exploring the city, we were met with a disturbing scene in the lobby. Numerous intoxicated individuals were behaving inappropriately, and we observed several girls who appeared to be in distress, being coerced into the elevator by men. Despite feeling uneasy about the situation, as two young women unfamiliar with the area since we were tourists from USA, we felt we had no choice but to hurry to our rooms and secure the doors, although they proved to be flimsy.||||Attempting to sleep around 1 AM, we were startled by a deafening smoke alarm at 1.45 AM and chaos ensued in the hallway, with people knocking on doors. Since we just got up from deep sleep we were uncertain of what to do and we hesitated to open the door. So we decided to take few mins to analyze. Fortunately, we had a window facing the street of the hostel front. So we were hoping for signs of a genuine emergency such as the arrival of fire trucks or guests evacuating the building, none of which occurred. Instead, we overheard a neighboring girl questioning someone in the hallway, only to be met with a chilling scream moments later. And absolute silence of her and the hallway after few minutes.||||Terrified and unsure of how to escape, we attempted to contact the police, but our lack of proficiency in French resulted in a lengthy hold time. Meanwhile, we could hear someone tampering with doors and moving furniture in the neighboring rooms, leading us to fear for our safety.||||Thankfully, I kept my husband (who was living in USA at the time) updated with all the situation happening, he tried to book a cab and informed the driver of our predicament. The cab driver, in turn, assisted us by contacting the police. When the police arrived, they appeared indifferent to our concerns and refused to question the hotel staff, even as they were berated by them. Fearing for our safety, we requested an escort to the ground floor till our cab.Despite of that, they just left and we came alone in the elevator with those 2 rogue hotel staff, one of whom suddenly feigned ignorance of English, despite earlier confrontation.||||We exited the hotel by the grace of Hanuman god, but I shudder to think what might have happened had we not been able to seek help. I implore others to thoroughly research accommodations before choosing to stay in such precarious...
