The single room is small, I was aware of that. But the fact that I'm in the basement in an inner courtyard... and that everyone could look into my room wasn't clear. I was also deceived by the pictures. The bathroom is new, but unfortunately everything else in the room is very run-down... In addition, I couldn't sleep at all the first night since a noise from outside kept me awake. I booked because of the location and the distance to the exhibition centre. The cost including taxes was almost 600€ for 4 nights. But to be honest, it was probably worth half that. When I wanted to leave the hotel for a walk I was asked to leave my keys. This really worried me as I still had my laptop etc in the room and there was no safe to lock everything! What if everything is gone? I've never experienced that before!
As a regular booker of various hotels, I unfortunately assumed that you would get something better for this price and was extremely disappointed. A few weeks earlier I had also paid the same price for another hotel in Paris and was absolutely satisfied. I got what I paid for.
I was also extremely disappointed the next morning at breakfast. The breakfast room is not inviting. You could see the broken fronts of the kitchen... Not exactly what you want to see... So I decided not to have breakfast.
This time I moved to another hotel after just one night and reported it to Booking.
My point is that you shouldn't charge so much money for such accommodation!!! The price and the pictures on the internet make you think that everything is standard... which it is not.
If you pay half the price, you don't have such legitimate expectations.
PS: When I was there, the rooms were advertised at €179.00 current daily...

This is a family-run hotel, but unfortunately, the service and professionalism were well below expectations. Upon checkout, the owner—a rather rude older man—accused me of attempting to leave with the room key and raised his voice at me in a very inappropriate manner. There is no in-room safe, so guests are expected to leave their valuables with the staff, which raises concerns about security. When I politely asked for his name, he refused to provide it. The interaction was deeply unpleasant and unprofessional. Housekeeping appears to be available only between 9am and 10am. After that, we were given low-quality, visibly unclean towels. The following day, the room was barely cleaned—the bed was left as we had left it—though the towels were replaced.
Additionally, the website fails to mention that the property has no lift. After midnight, the reception area is poorly lit, and we had to use our phone’s flashlight to navigate safely.
While it may be a family business, that’s no excuse for the lack of basic hospitality standards. I wouldn’t stay here again, and I wouldn’t recommend...
Read moreThe hotel is a good option if you are on the budget. It's not a 4 or 5 star hotel and this is mentioned from the begging. The location is very convenient. You have the Arc of Triomphe at 5 minutes and the Eiffel Tower at 40 minutes walking distances. They are also a lot of restaurants and bakery near by. The rooms are clean. They change the towels every day and make up your bed. The stuff is nice and helpful. Someone is at the reception 24/7. We arrived at the hotel at 00:30 and we were able to do the check-in then. Also, after our arrival I observed that I hadn't an hair dryier in the room, but the gentleman from the reception solved the problem very quickly. The weird thing is that they request you to let the room key at the reception when you leave the room. I don't see a security problem here as you are in a hotel, the stuff is having their own keys for all the rooms so it's the same thing as you keep the key anytime. We couldn't book this hotel for our whole stay in Paris, so we took another hotel that has better reviews but in the end we started to appreciate more Marmotel Etoile for it's location and...
