I had high hopes for this place but was left feeling disappointed. We booked to stay 6 nights but left after 5 but this was mainly due to the fact we decided to book a 1 night stop over further north so the drive to the ferry wasn't so long. We were camping in our campervan, the pitch is sandy and there is lots of ants. The toilet block was most of the time kept clean but it was rather frustrating that although masks were required nobody wore them and none of the staff were enforcing this. The drinking water stations were spread out amongst the campsite so had a little walk to these, I would invest in a water carrier to make this easier as we didn't have one and had to walk back and forth everyday to fill up bottles. There is no local bins to the pitches so you have to carry your rubbish through the bar/restaurant area, to the far corner of the car park to dispose of it! Why not have bin areas near to the pitches!? You are given a gate code for the barrier on arrival to get in and out of the campsite, this worked some days and not others so you was stuck in or out if it decided not to work! We was the only English on site and although I don't mind this, we felt it was sadly just was geared up for the French and made the atmosphere unwelcoming. My daughter tried to make friends but with great difficulty. The campsite with the right atmosphere has the potential to be good, the splash park pool area is really good and kept spotless and the park is really good...
Read moreAfter a long trip from the north of England, we arrived at Camping Signol and instantly felt it was worth it. Set in a beautiful, mature forest, the site feels full of character thanks to its clever layout. Itâs a smaller resort but has everything you need â from a fantastic pool complex to great sports facilities â and a friendly, relaxed atmosphere.
The pools were a real highlight. The water is genuinely heated, the indoor pool is wonderfully warm, and the slides kept our kids (aged 5 and 7) busy for hours. Thereâs also a splash park, sun loungers (plus extra chairs if the loungers are âreservedâ), and lifeguards on duty.
Facilities are excellent for the size of the site: two multi-sport courts, a decent gym, table tennis, and a great play park with bouncy castles during the day. The on-site shop is very basic, but Boyardville is a short walk away for bakeries, restaurants, and other essentials.
Ăle dâOlĂ©ron itself is a dream for cycling, running, and beach days, with some of the best beaches weâve visited â safe, scenic, and easily reached from the site.
Entertainment info could be clearer for non-French speakers, but staff were friendly, helpful, and patient with our attempts at French. All in all, this is a gorgeous spot for an active, family-friendly holiday. Our childrenâs verdict? Theyâd do the whole trip again just to...
Read moreAs a couple travelling in a motorhome without children, we would not have normally have stayed on this type of site which is geared more towards family holidays, however we were very pleasantly surprised. The site was in a perfect location- 2 mins walk from the harbour, and some good restaurants. ( We found La Terrasse in the harbour had a great selection of beers and good, well priced food). It was within walking distance of a small beach, and within 15 mins cycle ride of Saumonards, Boyardville and other long sandy beaches. Toilet facilities were very clean. There are pitches in shade and some in more sun. The site was much fuller than expected for this time of year, and there are not as many motorhome plots as other sites. Our pitch 337, was nice, the only downside being the small bouncy castle near to it, which did create some white noise as air was constantly blown through it. (This could be improved if this was placed at the other end of the playground- away from the pitches. )However it was turned off between 12-3 and then off for the night at 8, so didnât cause too much of a problem. )Having cycled over much of the island I would recommend Boyardville and this campsite as one of the best areas to combine sandy beaches/ town in the near vicinity, as other areas are...
