The hotel is easy to find at the top left hand corner of Valmeinier 1800.||We went April 2016 and many runs were open but the snow was slushy.||It is around a 50 meter walk to join either a small green run to the lift or the shuttle bus into the main area of town. If you have 9am ski lessons you will have to catch the bus into town as you wouldn't want to walk to town with ski boots. The green run is quite narrow in places and when we were there on an icy day some were giving up - the bottom part is steep and icy.||The lifts are great and the resort is lovely with nice lifts, minimal queues and nice cafes up top. I noticed lots of safety holders on the lifts this year which was nice and the lift attendants seemed helpful and on the ball. ||We ate in town and had a pizza one night- this was easy to book and reasonable for it's location.||The hotel room was functional. The beds were reasonable. The kitchen reasonably equipped.||The resort was blissfully quiet at night.||The apartment (we were in block B) had a strange noise and I couldn't decide if it was plumbing, air conditioning or from the bar nearby. It wasn't loud but annoying!||The apartment was really dirty when we arrived and I literally had to clean the whole place. It is disappointing the people before were allowed to leave it like that. The cleaning materials provided weren't great - a decent mop would help people to clean properly.||The ski locker was just about big enough for 3 of us, not idea how you'd manage for 4 of you! It was unheated so the boots were not pleasant to put on as they were still damp . If it was February I think we'd have taken them up to our apartment.||There is no free wifi and the one you pay for is only in reception during their limited hours. (as far as I could ascertain).||The location is great in easy reach of...
Read moreIt seemed so good in the advert. But . . . The lack of organisation here is unbelievable. A 2 hour queue to check in. The apartments are not properly maintained. Mould and a horrendous smell of damp on the ground floor made one bedroom and bathroom unusable. Definitely no extraction system. Maintenance is definitely an issue.
The paths down to the apartments were not cleared and a complete death trap. I fell and hurt my knee badly. No one offered any help in getting to the doctor. It was impossible for me to walk up the steep, icy, uncleared paths. Even the path directly from the Reception to the stairs down to some of the lower levels is not cleared.
Even the path to the garage was not cleared. The day we arrived, a car trying to leave became trapped on the slope and the automatic garage door nearly shut on it.
There is no mop for cleaning - we asked for one and were told to use a cloth with a broom. Really? Mops are hardly expensive and much easier than a broom and a cloth. This probably explains why our apartment wasn't that clean when we took it over.
On the plus side, the rooms are a reasonable size and the beds are comfortable. The apartments are warm. There is plenty of hot water. The balconies are nice.
The restaurant here is superb and catered well for a vegan, thank you. Lovely staff too.
In summary, the admin needs to be sorted. A two hour wait to check in is not acceptable. Paths needs to be cleared, the damp needs to be sorted and maintenance issues addressed. I think the isolation from the main area also needs to be stressed. You have to go to the village for lift passes, skis and shopping. If the residence management will not clear the paths so you can walk or get to the bus, or drive, it is impossible to manage - and I speak with 30 years of...
Read moreI have to say that I read the reviews only after booking, so I was quite worried about what awaited me. Normally, I don’t write reviews, but I’d like to share my experience here. I booked a cabin for 8 people – I’d say it’s comfortable for 6, but it’s possible to manage with 8 if you’re a good group of friends. We brought our own bedding and towels. The equipment was sufficient – electric stove, microwave, fridge with a freezer, and plenty of kitchen utensils. Basically, everything was fine except for one non-functional radiator.
It was possible to order fresh bread for the next day, but keep in mind that orders for the morning must be made at reception by 5:00 PM. The pool was open from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Yes, the water was colder, but I personally didn’t mind. The pool offers a beautiful view outside. When there’s snow, you can connect to the ski slope directly from the resort – it’s a 200-meter walk, and from there, you can ski to the ROI lift. The slopes are narrower but excellent, with plenty of variety for everyone.
I was worried about the final cleaning, but there were no issues during check-out. The deposit was refunded within a week of the stay’s end. I definitely recommend doing an online check-in on their website. Thanks to that, I didn’t have to wait in a long line upon arrival. I also opted for covered parking. Upon arrival, I went to pick up ski passes – they are open until 7:00 PM, and the staff was very friendly. Everything was ready. The staff was pleasant, and everything was handled to our satisfaction.
If you don’t have overly high expectations, you’ll be satisfied. Keep in mind that you can’t drive your car directly to the cabins – it’s a bit more challenging but manageable. Yes, the roads are snowy, but that’s a good thing –...
