We stayed for one night and walked around the village with its towers and up to the church. We didn't get to see the glacier, the weather caught us out. You couldn't beat the location with the views up to the mountains. It had rained during the day and continued overnight. This produced lots of snow on the mountains and the snow line was quite clearly lower in the morning. The overnight rain did cause us a little problem - we had to wait in the morning for a landslide to be cleared from the road before we could travel out. All part of the experience. ||||As for the hotel itself - It's geared up for the adventurers, it's not pretending to be 5*. We had a friendly welcome and, after a cooking demo, we had our evening meal there which was good. Breakfast was plenty too - can't expect the full range you get in a city hotel. ||||The rooms were basic - our beds had clean sheets and duvet but it was geared up for summer really and we were there in a cold snap. The answer to having no heating was to sleep in your clothes - sorted! The bathroom was very basic but functional.||||I think given the location it was OK. Ushguli itself is well worth a visit. If you didn't want to stay you could perhaps do it in a day there and back...
Read moreThe room is of a decent size. En-suite bathroom with hot shower. Bathroom size is quite small but it should be what you would expect from a hotel in such a small town. The balcony on each floor gives great view towards the town and mountain.
We did not book in advance as we weren’t so sure if we could made it all the way from Tbilisi to Ushguli in a day. So we arrived around 6pm and drove around the city. Hotel Panorama is centrally located with nearby parking spot for our car. Anyone travelling with own car I would really recommend this place. Other guesthouses appear to locate in smaller alleys with limited space for parking.
We were offered 200 GEL for a room for one night and dinner plus breakfast for two persons. It were so cheap as we would have expected when we were told about price in Georgia. But then after thinking about it, this could be reasonable as the owner kept the place nice and clean, with hot shower and WiFi. Also the village is remotely located so they probably needed to pay extra for food and etc. plus at the end, it’s 6.30pm, it had been a long drive and we needed a roof, so we went for it.
You maybe able to get a better price if you book in advance. We didn’t go back and check the...
Read morePanorama Hotel A Slice of Heaven in the Mountains Panorama Hotel is one of the most breathtaking places I have ever visited. If you love nature, tranquility, lush green landscapes and snow-capped mountains, this is the place for you.
The hotel is located in a picturesque mountain village where everything remains authentic, from the charming houses to the hotel’s own character. It is not modern or luxurious, but it is full of soul and unique charm.
The rooms are simple yet clean and comfortable, with combined bathroom and shower, and colorful traditional bedding. The owners, who live on site, offer warm hospitality and are always ready to help, even preparing packed meals for guests heading out on a hike to the glacier. Dinner here is a true local experience, lovingly prepared by the women of the family, and just below the hotel you will find a small grocery store selling drinks, coffee and other essentials.
In the village you can enjoy horseback riding, wander through peaceful landscapes and feel as though you have stepped into a postcard.
This is a place where time slows down, the views embrace you from every direction, and your heart fills with peace. An...
