We came because of our driver's recommendation. Maybe locals have better luck here, but I would not recommend this place to anyone. It took a very long time to get noti ed, but it wasn't the worst thing. They have a pretty decent lemonade; I give them that. We ordered a salad, beans in a clay pot, and chicken with potatoes. Salad came fast. Chicken also, we were almost impressed until we realised that there was almost no chicken in the chicken dish. I ate one piece and went looking under the potatoes for the rest and found just one small piece. I had to go get the waitress, and she said there was probably a mistake and they will fry some chicken separately for us. Ok, we waited until the plate with four small pieces of overdone chicken came. Tough, dry, chevy, with no flavor watsoever. We've had it, and for the first time in a long time, we canceled the rest of the order and left. We had to go through a bit of a non-aggressive argument, but in the end, they didn't charge us for the chicken and canceled beans. There was an 18% service charge, which, as they first told me, is a government tax, which is a lie. Then they said it is because the dishes are less expensive than at other places, which is also a lie. I always tip, so it wasn't a big deal. It's the lying I didn't care for. Overall, I think there are better places to eat not...
Read moreWe waited for nearly an hour (it wasn't busy) to get food of very mediocre quality - hard, chewy pieces of meat on cold, greasy potatoes (ojakhuri), the same pieces of meat with rings of cold raw onion (mtsvadi), pretty average chvishtari. Don't get fooled by the pictures of tasty looking dishes printed on the big menu board displayed by the bar, the food in reality won't look anything like that. Everything was overpriced, small glass of red wine poured from big plastic container cost 8 GEL, later we got 1L of it from a grocery shop for just 6 GEL! Staff was grumpy, not the smallest smile on their faces. Many marshrutkas stop by Cafe Bar Enguri so due to its location the place naturally gets lots of hungry customers, I bet many of them will leave disappointed. There is much better food to be had for much cheaper and with friendly helpful staff in Ushguli, take my word on that . However I must say the place is spacious and bright and it also offers films screening, however I can't comment on a...
Read moreThis was the worst service I've ever experienced in Georgia. The staff was incredibly rude and aggressively tried to shift the blame onto me. Unfortunately, I strongly discourage anyone from visiting this place.
On July 27, I ordered a homemade compote. What I received didn't look like compote. However, it was different from the lemonade our friends ordered (different color, taste). We thought, "Well, maybe that's what 'compot' is like in Ushguli." Upon payment, the staff claimed I ordered lemonade, which was 4 lari more expensive. I had five witnesses who could confirm I ordered compote, but the waiter didn't care and immediately started blaming me. For about three minutes, I tried to prove my point, but it was useless. Not wanting to waste my day, I paid the extra 4 lari and left. We will never go back to this place. Sayonara!
P.S. Glass of lemonade...
