Worst 4 star hotel we have ever stayed at!!!
We checked in very late the day we arrived and as we stayed for a whole week the manager gave a discounted rate for the car park for us to use.
2 days into our stay, we were very uncomfortable as the room booking has been advertised as double bedroom but in fact it’s two mattresses put together, which cause a lot of backache, so we complained and a lovely staff at reception upgraded us to a actual double bed, which we felt was very friendly.
Thereafter, we had several issues with housekeeping, as they don’t know a single bit of German nor English. We booked this room to work in and house keeping kept knocking on the door as they did not understand to come back later.
Last two days before our checkout, had car park ticket issues, very rude german speaking person at the front asking me to come and pay at reception. Very rudely responding to us, almost felt like we were treated differently to other guests. We have heard them speak German to other guests politely, but as we were foreigners responded very arrogant and rude. I understand very well German but not fluent anymore in speaking so felt more comfortable in English, which allowed me to recognise the way they treat guests in this hotel.
Finally, we pre-agreed for a late check out for 1pm and manager was very lovely at the time of check in and suddenly the day on our check out was very rude and telling us we cannot do a late check out anymore as we may get busy and we complained about last nights parking issues and manager responds to us saying “Do not check out later than noon, not 12.10pm or 12.15pm, otherwise we can not give you any money back on your car park ticket.” Why make a comment like that to a guest? Totally appalling and disrespectful customer service. There is no excuse saying language is a barrier, as the manager welcomed us nicer on the day of arrival at this hotel.
Very disappointed from a 4 star hotel, we have experienced a much better service at other hotels - this service here is not even a 3 star.
We would recommend other options to...
Read moreLet me start by saying that this hotel does not deserve a Wyndham franchise. The rooms had old carpets with stains of god knows what, bathrooms smelling of mould, and paint peeling off the facade of the building and the rooms. Their classic rooms are still a bit better than the modern rooms. The staff is overworked and do their best to help you. The security guy (or so he seems) who roams around at the evenings and the night is a total joke and felt no problems in taking out a pack of smokes and smoking right where guests are eating or drinking in the courtyard. I thought this was a 4 star hotel but it does not even deserve 1. The receptionists were very very helpful and i felt really disappointed that they had to get overworked to the point of exhaustion. But they always had a smile on their face. And if this is not enough, you are literally welcomed into the hotel with a graphiti on the hotel gates. The owner of the hotel i guess is busy counting bills while the guests are sitting in the heat. And if this is not enough, the airconditioning was not working all over the hotel, and they did not have enough fans. However, the folks at the reception really took care of that after the first night. At the end of the day, the onus is on the owner, the hotel staff(those who really diligently work) can only do so much to hold the pieces together. I daresay that Wyndham should send a secret guest to check the hotel's compliance to use the Wyndham name. Location is not very nice, I would recommend Checkpoint Charlie or the areas...
Read moreOverall it is a good hotel but a bit far from the city center. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and nice. Although the location is a bit far from the city center, it is a good location. Good public transportation connection.
This is a nice hotel but not a "four star" hotel. I have been to many 3 star hotels which are way better than this. There is not any four star feeling in this hotel. The bed and pillows are soft and cozy. However in the 3 person suite, the extra bed is okay not that comfortable. It is a big hotel and there are only two elevators so it is quite busy. Also the elevator is quite noisy. Our room was next to an elevator so it is very noisy at night. In the 3 person suite, there is no door in the bathroom. I would understand if there was no door in a 1 or 2 person room but in 3 person room it is a bit awkward. The rooms are not very well maintained. The AC is very noisy. I couldn't sleep with the sound that AC made so we switched it off. Also the light in a bathroom mirror was not working. The paint of some walls were worn off. They offer very less things in the room. Less toiletries. They have a nice restaurant downstairs which helps but on the flip side there is absolutely nothing in the room. There is not even a water boiler in case you want warm water. They have some customer discounts with vague rules and staffs seems to not know about those rules. So they are not able to help...
