The second best about this hotel is the design. The rooms are beautifully designed and you can see that whoever did that had an eye for details. They didn't only put the finest stuff there, they made sure it all fits together. Very well done. We booked the Souterrain room and I was very sceptical but even though this room is below the surface it is amazing. You have a direct access to the beautiful garden from there and (like everything else) it's nicely designed. The bathtub in the middle of the room in front of the ambilight TV seems "overkill" but it's not. Not at all. Once you enjoyed an evening there, you'll love it.
The third best is the location. It's very close to the Phoenix lake which (from what I heard) is a pretty recently developed area. That makes it seem a bit "clinically clean" and empty but somebody did an amazing job there too. The subway station is right around the corner and the trains can bring you into the city center quickly.
The fourth best about this place is the privacy you'll get. They don't have many rooms so you'll not see many other guests. The staff is almost "invisible" since this place is run highly efficiently.
The best about this place is the staff. Robin and Stacey who where the only ones we met were super engaged and so kind and sweet that they were able to put a smile on our faces every time. If you need help they'll be there for you with a smile.
I highly recommend this place and the area for a stay.
Just a little "advise": as a German I'm used to the tone that many people are using in this country. I don't find it too harsh and it doesn't bother me. But for international guests the welcome letter in the room might sound a bit harsh. It's actually one sentence about how glad you are to have guests and then you start putting out your set of rules introducing it with something like "to make your stay as comfortable as possible please oblige to the rules of our house: 1. Rule 1, 2. Rule 2 and so on and so on". Even though I'm aware that (from a legal point of view) some of these things are necessary to be told to your guests...but it could be said in nicer words. Don't put the responsibility for your guests comfort on them (which is how it may sound like for international guests)...let them know how happy you are to have them and "hide" your rules in a nice text build out of complete sentences. Don't go "Breakfast is served between X and Y" but maybe "We'll be happy to serve you breakfast between X and Y.". It's not a big difference but it makes a difference. This is the only small thing I didn't appreciate in a place like that. I know you don't mean no harm but non-Germans could understand it in...
Read moreThis hotel is a gem in Dortmund, located very close to Phoenix See, a charming location with good restaurants. We enjoyed the Haus Phoenixsee Restaurant, that we can also highly recommend. The hotel is luxurious, quiet, very clean and decorated with utmost taste. We loved the flower arrangement at the lobby and the multiple beautiful glass photographs throughout the hotel and room. We stayed in room 303, a suite that was ample and comfortable with a very nice balcony. The bed was very comfortable and the egiptian cotton linens felt smooth on the skin. The buffet breakfast selection was just amazing, certainly among the best I have ever enjoyed in my many years of worldwide travel. We had the chance to meet the friendly owner and her lovely daughter and boyfriend that welcomed us warmly. Whe hope to be back soon and can highly recommend this hotel to business travelers and others seeking a...
