A brilliant three night stay as part of our xmas holiday rest period.
The hotel is excellent with good rooms and a feeling of quality throughout.
We were truly impressed by the spa facilities (which incidentally only costs €40 for a day pass so we will definitely visit it again) which included three types of sauna (infra-red, eucalyptus, and finnish), a steam room, ice, foot baths, cold shower, relaxation room, small pool (not big enough for 'proper' swimming but still relaxing), and a jacuzzi.
We visited everyday and feel wonderful for doing so.
The restaurants around the hotel are all very good of our experience and the nearby station, less than a five minute walk, means that you can access central Hamburg easily and also use the great selection of shops in the station, including some great sandwich places and even a McDonalds.
The staff in the hotel were generally great, with an understanding of the quality of service required for a hotel to truly be 5*. Humble and helpful, it was a pleasure to stay and little touches such as providing (upon request) flowers and a cake for a birthday celebration was lovely.
The breakfast was very good with a great assortment of breads, hams, and many other things. Though I was impressed by the pastries and fresh fruit, the lack of a crepe or pancake/waffle station (hot, not just pastries) was disappointing. There was an egg station, but the eggs were quite plain and lack ingredients like chillis that you could add to an omelet etc.
As it was a winter visit, it was a little annoying how difficult it was to get the room to a comfortable and consistent temperature overnight, it was also surprising to not have a kettle in the room to make hot drinks. These were not critical things, but surprising for such an otherwise high quality hotel.
We would definitely stay here again and recommend it...
Read moreAllow me by stating the facts. I had no intention initially to sending any review as such, as I respect the industry and all the hard work behind the hotel operation/management. Have been in the industry for over 12 years. First time in Hamburg, first time in this hotel and sadly to say, (definitely does not deserve a 5 star, hard to reach a 4 star if compared to level of service compared to other countries in EU.
Service has been overall poor and rude from most of the staff. Example: Sitting at one of the tables at the lobby bar, I have heard a few inappropriate comments from one of the staff members towards a guest. She was unnecessarily straightforward & giving most of us the impression that your staff is selective in level of service depending on the nationality & ethnicity of people and in general behaving in the opposite manner of being hospitable. There are many different ways to approach, ask politely & expressing a thought or a favor. But she has done it in the worst manner possible.
However, the housekeeping/room service & the bartenders at the event halls downstairs were lovely. They deserve a recognition for their friendliness & professionalism.
However, lobby & people in charge of events have shown dissatisfaction & disappointment to the highest level
Sorry for a harsh review, but management needs to know and take action keeping the standard of a so called 5 star hotel which is not even close to honouring it.
A lot of international guests staying at the hotel currently & instead of stepping up and providing the best service possible for a good pleasant stay & reputation of the hotel, has been the complete opposite at the moment.
Good luck in the future with the hiring the right managers for departments & providing professional sweet service if will want to prosper & stand out in...
Read moreA good but not a great experience.
So we started by arriving at the garage. Parking was easy and there were free ev chargers available. Some of these chargers were malfunctioning but the reception insisted that they were brand new and maybe the fault is on our side. This wasn't the case as the chargers behind the corner worked.🤨
Next the reception. This was a big fail. We waited for more than 30 minutes with kids to be acknowledged. People were cutting us in the line and the staff gave no effort to help us. The check-in took forever and the clerk didn't give us any info on the hotel, she just slapped the key cards in my hand and sent us off. 🙄
We stayed on the 6th floor. The view was amazing and the room was of good quality. Cleanliness was on point mostly but there were a couple centipedes crawling around. 🤢
At the breakfast I found it weird that our boys 3yo and 11mo old were both charged 6e/person. The younger one doesn't even eat anything there. The selection isn't too big but of high quality. Everything the was good and tasty. 😋
Location of the hotel is good. Easily reachable by car, walking or mass transit. Short walk away from various places. 🚶🏼
The biggest disappointment was the spa as nobody told us that there are specific times families are allowed in there. We specifically planned to go on the morning of our departure and to be greeted with a rejection was frustrating. 😩
Overall, this is a good hotel but maybe not for us, because of these few faults. I hope this review helps you make up your mind whether to book a...
