Story time: This was probably the worst cinema experience ever.
I booked a ticket for a Barbie preview, I was super happy about it cause, obviously as probably many people, I was waiting for this movie. I’m a huge cinema geek, attended multiple international festivals (including Cannes), so it shouldn’t be even surprising that I bought a pink shirt for this occasion.
In the beginning everything seemed to be all right, they gave us wine (cause it was a sparkling preview), everyone was wearing cute pink outfits. I was sitting and waiting for the movie to start when two girls approached me and told me that I’m sitting on their seat.
As it turned out, “there was a system error” and “there was an overbooking” and “your place doesn’t exist”, the staff member asked me to leave the room, told me to get refund in the cash desk, and gave me a voucher saying that I can watch the movie in the next few weeks (yeah, that’s why I booked a ticket for the movie premiere, to watch the movie in 3 weeks 🤡).
That was by far the saddest and most humiliating movie experience in my entire life. I did not go to the cash desk, as I was not feeling like spending any minute longer in this building (also If you know which seats were sold and which ones don’t exist, you should refund everyone automatically, not tell people to wait in the line🤡). And I am not planning to use the voucher, I don’t want to have anything to do with this place.
How can you have “system error” and “overbooking” in 2023? It’s a cinema, that’s the only one thing you should know how to do - sell tickets.
It was my fist experience with Cinemax (because they barely ever show movies in OV 🤡), and the last one. If you like me love movies, never go to this place, it’s a waste of money, time and (most importantly) joy of...
Read moreSeems like Germans are not able to start a movie. If you'd like to watch a movie in English, NEVER GO TO THIS PLACE. Wanna know why? I was there to watch the new Tarantino movie, in English of course. I spent 12 euros for the ticket, decided not to have popcorn since they have ridiculous deals such as "popcorn + cola" 9,60 € (like seriously?), watched 30 minutes commercial before the film started. And finally the film started, in the worst quality I've ever seen, and.... in German of course! They told us it was impossible to watch the movie in English, as it takes 5 hours to load it. This is emberassing, or "peinlich", as Germans say. And you know what's more? The same happened in the same cinema a few months before, with the premiere of James Bond. Same thing: 30 minutes commercial, and the movie starts in German. The audience had to go out, then come in again 15 minutes later, watch (again!) the 30 minutes commercial, and then the movie started in English. With Tarantino was even worse, as they didn't even make it to have the movie in original language. Moreover, when the Hostess of the cinema came in to "say sorry" and explain the situation, she only said it in German, though there were people who don't understand a single German word. She repeated everything in English only after I asked her to do it.
So people, don't go to this Cinema, because it sucks.

Read moreUPDATE 2021: I removed the second star, because the online booking experience has gotten absolutely terrible and frustrating. Wrong pictures are shown for the movies (almost accidentally booked the wrong movie).
It took me ages to fill out the corona form to book a movie for 10 kids. And then: "transaction failure" and I had to start over completely.
Also finding your way around the site is awful. Just to do the simplest thing: "what movie to see next week" is hard to find between the cluttered interface.
Sorry, this is bad.
Cinema as such is pretty nice. BUT absolute downside: Everything at the bar is shamelessly expensive PLUS you have to wait 30 minutes minimum (usually only one bar out of 2 is open). Prices for the movie are also expensive. Nice is the family discount sunday’s (but these should be the normal prices). Also buying online costs extra. If you buy at the counter you can expect another 20 minute wait because usually there are long waiting lines. Overall this all downgrades the whole...
