We paid for 3 standard rooms. 2 of our party had this, it seems one got upgraded presumably due to room availability. The staff member seemed very distracted checking us in and a smile wouldnt have hurt! They did not inform us other than 2 of our party were in one building, the other in main one at the top floor. The top floor room was their suite, but upon arrival a very strong smell of damp/dust hit you in the face. In places there was mould and wallpaper starting to peel away. I went to look out the window to see multiple i believe ladybirds sitting around the window! I counted 5. This had me worried about bed bugs, although none were found that i could see. Not ideal! The view was fantastic from the room which was perhaps the best part about it. The bed was comfortable as were the sheets. The room cleaner knocked and my door and just barged in just after 9 in the morning, they surely wait a few seconds before attempting to come in! Having then shown this room to my friends, they were very upset as having paid the same price as me, they should have been at least told by reception the fact i had a different room with upgrade. Now to there normal single rooms, the bed was rock solid and a very small room, what they called a duvet didnt fit the bed properly. No pillows on arrival, had to get some! It did the job we wanted it to, a roof over our heads but there are hotels at very similar price points that would be far better! Only stay here if you have to, needs lots of work done to...
Read moreAlthough the room was exceptionally large and we had a river facing view, which was nice, that’s about all I can say to encourage you to stay here.|At first I thought we’d been given a room for a disabled person as the bed was so low to the ground, but the bathroom was not suited to disabilities so it was just an exceptionally low bed, given that the average German man I’ve seen seem to be well over 6ft tall, even I am 5’7”, I found it uncomfortable to get in and out of. |The wifi in our room was pretty much non existent. You know how a wifi icon is rainbow shaped, our intermittent connectivity was the little dot at the bottom of the rainbow, if I stood right at the entrance door.|You have to ask to have your room cleaned and if you forgot, too bad. Our room wasn’t attended to the 3 nights we were there but I managed to get our bins emptied, once. There was a space for a fridge, but no fridge, no phone either to call reception to request room clean. |The bathroom, while nice, had the toilet paper holder right in the splash zone from the shower, so everyday we had wet toilet paper. |We didn’t eat at the hotel, breakfast was €25 each so we went to the street that is a 2 min walk away and has breakfast for €8.|The staff were all very pleasant.|All in all, there is nothing wrong with this hotel and Hamburg generally is not cheap, (we were hit with an unexpected city tax upon checkout, which we have not paid in any other German city), but I think for the price, things could have...
Read moreThe room, though aged and clean, lacked everything. No Wi-Fi, no phone, not even a bottle of water. Seeking assistance meant a perpetual descent downstairs, a frustration I endured each time.Upon check-in, I immediately informed a staff member about the Wi-Fi issue, emphasizing an essential morning meeting the next day. While assurances were given, the following morning, during the crucial meeting, no resolution was in sight. Another receptionist responded with a baffling attitude, questioning why I bothered with such "trivial" matters. This experience has not only soured my stay but also tainted my perception of hospitality in Germany.Even in a hotel of this caliber, falsely claiming Wi-Fi availability for any room is unacceptable. I strongly believe that for such misinformation, an apology and compensation are obligatory.Continual complaints did earn me a one-day free breakfast, but thereafter, the staff indulged in derogatory remarks in German behind my back. Initially a Wi-Fi issue, the staff's attitude tainted my first impression of Germany. The service at this hotel is genuinely abysmal, making it a place I'd never...
