The Hungry RoadThe Hungry Road
(Last visited 1/20/2023.) Working in Hamburg for a couple of weeks and while wandering around the town I found a place called Peter Pane that looked pretty well put-together so I checked it out! Little did I know it was a chain of restaurants consisting of more than 55 locations around Europe. Lol. Do I even need to leave a review for a place that is that successful? Might as well! Here goes. Atmosphere/Appearance: From the outside you can kinda see the grandness of what there is to behold inside, but once through the doors I was BLOWN AWAY. The ceilings were high, the decor was FABULOUS! Like, I was transported to like, a jungle or something! Big, tall trees, benches, a big bar directly in the middle of the restaurant and such good energy in here! Service: I can't remember who took care of us either time we went, but I can't remember having a problem with service at all. Food: So this place focuses mainly on its diverse burger varieties! They offer smash burgers, chicken burgers, vegetarian burgers, bunless burgers, fries and various salads. On my first visit I tried the Don Dattel which was a 150g burger patty, bacon, date cream, greens, red jalapenos and a smoked white sauce. It was pretty good! Nothing crazy to shout from the Heavens about, but I enjoyed it. I also tried the truffle fries and I LOVED those. I can tell it was a truffle oil that was used because of how pungent the odor was, but I didn't mind. Lol. I honestly don't remember what burger I had on the 2nd visit, so it must not have been memorable. The sweet potato fries were okay as well. Value: It's a burger joint, so your wallet should feel very safe here. In conclusion, this place was cool. If you'd like something safe, check out a Peter Pane near you, but... I always am about supporting a local business just trying to make it.

Hamburg is a city whose very name is linked to the word "Hamburger", and as one might expect, there are numerous good burger establishments throughout the city. Amongst these, I recently visited Peter Pane, a restaurant that provides a rather satisfying experience. What makes Peter Pane stand out is a combination of elements: the food is genuinely tasty, the restaurant itself is clean and well-kept, and the interior design is also quite appealing, creating a pleasant dining atmosphere. The restaurant space appears to be quite large, which often means that whilst making a reservation might not always be strictly necessary, there is usually ample seating available. Upon ordering drinks, they are prepared freshly at the central bar area and then brought directly to your table. Turning to the food, the burger patties are particularly noteworthy. They possess a good, rich meaty flavour that comes through well. The accompanying chips (fries) are also prepared excellently – achieving that desirable crispness on the outside whilst remaining tender in the middle. Their appealing golden brown colour suggests they have been fried at just the right temperature. The overall balance of flavours in the meal feels well-judged and harmonious. If you are in Hamburg and looking for a high-quality burger experience that lives up to the city's historical association with the dish, visiting Peter Pane would be a good choice.

Went there with husband and two kids on a weekday night. Not busy, the place felt cosy as you walked through the door and past the hanging lights. The young lady who showed us our seats was neither rude nor friendly. Would be nice if she had greeted us with Hallo or Guten Tag upon arrival but that’s standard German customer service for you, speaking from experience. Price / Food: Burgers were tasty and we picked the Abendsmenu (Evening menu) which comes with a burger/ large salad of your choice, sides and a cocktail / mocktail. This will set you back at about 20-30€ per person depending on the mains and drinks that you pick. There are kids meal sets, too that will cost you 10€. kids get to pick a main, a side, a drink and dessert. If you have very little ones and think a set will be a tad too much, there is also an option for you to request for an extra plate to share your meal with your child. Service: the young chap who took our order was polite, not over friendly but attentive. The older lady, who brought our order to us, is lovely, interacted with the kids and was just a breath of fresh air. I wish I had asked for her name. The children were given their menu on a large piece of paper that doubles up as a coloring sheet, along with jumbo color pencils. Nice touch. All in all, it’s a nice restaurant to eat out with family in Hamburg.

Summary:

I really liked the fig and walnut with goats cheese beef burger but my boyfriend found his bbq burger merely satisfactory. The atmosphere is good and the decor is lovely and unique however the customer service could definitely be better.

Full Story:

The 3 star rating is because we were treated poorly. The customer service was definitely lacking. When we walked in, there were no staff to greet us and we were unsure whether to merely find a seat or to wait to be seated. When we found someone to ask she was incredibly flippant and although we spoke to her in English, she brought us German menus. She only returned to us after a long while incredibly impatiently and when we asked for English menus she basically slapped them down in front of us and was very flippant when taking our order. When our burgers came they were dry and it was clear that they'd been cooked and left under the hot lamp for a long while rather than fresh. We had to find a different member of staff in order to send them back as our server had no intention of checking up with us on our food. The tap water we had ordered for our table came sparkling and when we told our server we wanted still water she took it away. The surprising bit is she never brought another one back so we went through our entire meal without a drink as everytime she passed us, she refused to make eye contact. When we asked for the bill, it took a while to come and she was still going to charge us for the full drinks she took away and never replaced. We had to tell her we didn't intend to pay for a drink...

PRETENCISOUS MC DONALD'S. Worst customer service ever. The guy who hosted us (tall and brunet) and all the handsome guys working at the bar think they are at model catwalk, not even a catwalk, at a model shooting, for they barely move. All standing there talking and checking there mobiles waiting for the work to show up (4 people at a bar at non-peak-hour on a sunday). We asked for a cappuccino and not only the size of the cup we got was ridiculous but the foam was not even properly made, that was a poor cafe latte. Later on, the guy I mentioned in first place, send a another waitress to a table who wanted to order making funny gestures and laughing implying that those customers were picky. We saw the whole situation because they were just 3 m away from our table. Before leaving I asked our waitress if that guy was in charge of the restaurant, she laughed and asked me why I thought that. I told her because we noticed a horrible behaviour from him that showed him highly relaxed and at a certain level of superiority. She answered he was just another waiter and that he must have been dealing with a hangover. Pathetic. Nice burger and fries, super expensive, though. For a burger with fries and coke: almost 20 eur. I did not even get a glass with ice for the coke, the placemats are slippery on the table, super unhygienic and feel disgusting to touch. The place is very nice and nicely decorated but the seats are really uncomfortable....
