Stayed for fours nights and overall found the hotel to be good value for the price paid but slightly disappointing.

Originally no platinum upgrade given - then after some magical typing a junior suite was found. However turns out it was basically built over the loading dock - the parade of trucks began at about 6.00 am - so I found myself back in a standard room for the rest of the stay.

By the way I think "St Georg View" is german for view of the neighbouring windows of the other wing of the hotel.

Also during my stay I had numerous minor services issues - each one minor itself but in aggregate became quite annoying. Staff also varied widely from excellent to one lady who snatched a late nomination for worse Starwood staff member of the year.

On the positive the room is a good size and despite some visible wear and tear on the floors and walls is in very good condition. Large quality LCD TV, iPod dock and iron are also included in the room. The mini bar in the room also included a free bottle of still and sparkling water (in theory) replaced everyday. Newspapers are supposedly available around the hotel - I never saw one - although some guests did appear to get them delivered to their room in the mornings. Maybe next stay I will reach the lofty heights of being newspaper worthy.

Good sized bed, maybe a bit firm for some, but with good quality linen. The true star of the room is the bathroom. Separate walk in shower with high pressure multi directional jets, a huge stand alone soaking tub is also included. Toiletries in the standard rooms are the typical low end le meridien brand. Part of the minor service failings also included random arrival/disappearance/replacement of the toiletries. It apparently took two nights for me to earn the right to have body lotion provided but after night three I had my mouth wash privileges revoked!

Location is about a 5 -10 minute walk to the main train station and 10 - 15 walk to the main shopping district. I didn't mind the location and some parts of St Georg can be quite pleasant - however I think the location is more suited to the warmer months.

In short I found the hotel to have widely fluctuating quality of staff, a lack of attention to detail but good standard rooms and arguably the best standard bathroom in Starwood's Germany portfolio. Like many things in life it comes down to money - this property can often be extremely competitively priced in which case the price to quality ratio makes it a...

I booked this hotel as a treat for my 40th birthday. It was a nice hotel but not the luxury that it claimed.

The down sides (and there are a lot of them as it was meant to be a luxury stay):

I asked for a nice view and the view we got was really uninspiring; an internal corner of the back of the hotel overlooking some flats The room was really dark despite having 15 bulbs (not including the bathroom where there were more)! Two of the bulbs were illuminating what can only be described as a misplaced attempt at art - what looked like two pictures of caged ducks! Of the carpet I could see clearly, there were several stains The carpet was also very normal, no luxury feel there My pillow looked like it had a blood stain on it. I turned it over but the cleaners kept putting it back on top each day in full view! The bookshelves (the only place to put your folded clothes) were dusty There was no mini bar, just an empty fridge so no spontaneous snacking or drinking No biscuits either with the tea/coffee selection The bath towels were just towels, not bath sheets The bath robes were scratchy The sink tap was so low we had to fill the kettle and reuseable water bottles from the bath tap The mirrors in the bathroom steamed up after showering so the only part you could see in was the bit by the radiator, no heated mirrors there The make up mirror was stiff and not illuminated There was no shower door so the floor could get quite wet The bathroom had a heavy glass sliding door with a tiny handle so it was heavy and noisy to slide open and it didn't stop the sound of the toilet being flushed or the shower being used. Also, if you used the bathroom during the night, the light lit up the whole room There was no socket in the bathroom so you either had to plug the hairdryer into the tea point and hook it around the door or plug it in near the ironing station and dry your hair blowing onto the coats you've hung up behind you and with nowhere to rest your hairdryer, straighteners etc. The hairdryer was really heavy Maybe this isn't a downside for people who love to iron when on holiday but I'm not sure a self-contained iron, ironing board and trouser press cupboard complete with internal mirror is really useful, practical and a good use of space and money in each room. I'd far rather have had the things mentioned here Only news and one music channel in English, no films

Not enough characters left for me to finish! You...

FOR GUESTS WITH CHILDREN, DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL. specially if you wanted to just relax in their pool and have quality swimming time with the kids (esp. during colder months) I am not really into reviewing hotels, but, here I am. We specifically booked this hotel for our son's first birthday. And the Pool (water) is NOT heated enough so the kids and everyone could enjoy! Even the adults couldn't stay in the darn pool because it's way too cold!!! Considering how much the hotel charges per night, this is uterly incredulous and waste of money! Talked to the staff, and complained, what I got was "The temp. regulated at 27 degrees celcious. BECAUSE IT IS the temperature that ADULTS ARE COMFORTABLE WITH otherwise, they will be too hot. That's the temperature that is generic to all Pool in Germany." (As if it is!! No it is not! We've been to a lot of hotels all over Germany with a heated pool even during winter season. And I Never experience this coldness during swimming! I know what I am talking about! Other hotels can easily regulate the pool to a higher temperature upon request when properly requested. Weekend or not. The staff just kept on dipping their hands to the surface of the pool, to check the water's temperature as if that's enough. They should dip their whole body in the pool wearing a swimsuit, then they'll know what I am talking about! Even adults couldn't stay for too long!) us adults can handle ourselves. We can tolerate it. BUT, HOW ABOUT THE KIDS?! SPECIALLY NOT THE KIDS!! kids and older people easily lost heat in their body. HOW will they enjoy the pool if it's cold?! They will only get sick, if they stay long. PLEASE, just don't go here if you want relaxing stay in a hotel with pool amenities. You'll waste your money and you will be disappointed! As you couldn't use this amenities to your hearts content! This is a supposed to be a happy trip for our family, my son really loves swimming (even at a very young age) Just seeing him unable to enjoy this on his first birthday just breaks my heart The sink of the bathroom that we're in , is leaking! and the water stopper just keeps on breaking. We already reported it but there was no resolution, we stayed there with leaking bathroom sink!! Awful. Just awful. Shame.

Writing whilst staying at the hotel. Having stayed at Le Meridien hotels elsewhere and always been impressed, I booked 2 nights for my wife’s birthday treat. I have never been so underwhelmed by a hotel that portrays itself as a luxury brand. The main reception areas are nicely designed. But the Executive room I booked was poor. Yes it has a view over the lake, but the room feels like something from Ikea. And much of the furniture has been very well used, scratches etc. The wardrobe is walked through to get to the bathroom, making things very tight on space for two people. Yes a designer has made good use of the space. But I have a plastic tray similar to an airplane to have to pull out to make a hot drink. Not what I expect from a €300 a night room. The housekeeping has been fine, but certain items need replacing. The toilet brush is disgusting. The shower areas need reselling, mould present. The rooftop bar is cool, but you can visit without being a guest. The restaurant for breakfast has amazing views and the breakfast offered considering the Corona rules was ok. But sadly the bedroom let the stay experience down. I wish I had paid more and stayed at the Fairmont or Fontenay. Next time. Worth noting is that the staff offer good service. Just the hotel rooms need some love. And the bathrooms are small for what one would expect Update - Hotel contacted me to advise they do have a update program in place, and offered a gesture of good will.
