Rauchfang — Hotel in Verwaltungsgemeinschaft Titisee-Neustadt

It looks great on the web, and I generally look for good points about hotels.||This hotel, whilst it is clean and tidy, no complaints there and the staff are nice (the two of them).||However it is definitely dated, we arrived, having booked a double/twin room only to be given 2 singles rooms on opposite sides of the corridor!, we asked for a twin and were given one that the lady in front of us was complaining about because she booked a double. Not a good start but it was sorted quickly.||The rooms we saw were dated, small and needed a good coat of paint and some TLC, the whole building inside and out needs some TLC to be honest. Outside they have started to tidy it up but what has been done resembles a cheap Spanish hotel and is no where near complete. ||Car parking is limited to about 12 cars and is insufficient, its a tourist area and no further free parking exists. ||Breakfast was ok, continental as you would expect, but again look around the dining room, chipped paint, seats are threadbare on the edges etc.||All in all a put me up for a night, but not somewhere we...

We came across Hotel Rauchfang by chance - and what a welcome treat. "Chef" and his team run a tight ship. The room we had (Room 25) was clean and spacious for us and our young son. The staff are friendly, efficient and professional - always prepared to help and advise. The hotel serves good breakfasts. While we did not dine there during our stay, the food always looked and smelt delicious. The hotel is well situated for the lake and numerous tourist attractions and has excellent parking facilities. I’m not sure why others are giving such bad reviews. As I walked in I was immediately greeted by friendly staff. There was no odor (other older reviews mentioned that) and the dining area was very clean and cute. My room was spacious and very clean. The bed was okay, I usually like softer beds but it’s not the worst bed I’ve slept on. The room was warm at night and the included breakfast was great in the morning! This was a great location to walk to the meet up for the Christmas market bus pick up. The price for the hotel was much better than others in the area. I would...
