Villandro Residence — Hotel in Accra

I was there to dine on a Friday with a group of friends and we had subscribed to their Unlimited Friday offer. This review therefore doesn't cover what a normal dining day looks like or the hotel rooms.

Parking was an unfavourable experience as there was inadequate grounds within or just outside the premises. Sidewalks and parking spaces of nearby premises have to be employed by the guests themselves (on their own).

The ambience was delightful. Seating was largely outdoor/open-air. Canopies had to be installed to cover some guests when it began to drizzle. Trendy music errupted from the sound systems strategically dotted around, and the sound was neither deafening nor destructive to our group conversations.

Now, to dining. The service wasn't bad but it could be better. We found the food portions quite inadequate, especially the proteins and had to order some more off the main menu. Truthfully, while the yam chips, pork and chicken wings were nicely done, the meatballs and veggie friedrice didn't match up. The cocktails/mocktails menu was limited, sadly, but the unlimited bottled drinks offer was impressive, even though we couldn't consume them all or leave...

Update in May 2021: Service has improved significantly and I enjoyed the food more on my second visit! It is so much better now so rating improved 😁

Original rating September 2020 So either I went on a bad day or the place needs a shake up. I think there is a lot of potential for it because it is indeed a beautiful place but they had a service problem and the buffet was very mundane. A waiter who was supposed to seat us basically pointed to some seats far back and left,(the table had not been cleaned after the last user). When we finally settled on an indoor seat, we had to set with the table mats ourselves. The outdoor vibe seems great and the owner (i suppose) is very nice. He came to ask how our experience had been and when we told him how our night was going, he offered as a 5% discount for the inconvenience. Good location but sadly a traffic prone area. Most recent visit was for their unlimited Friday. Great ambiance, not too loud music and cocktails were flowing. Unfortunately, the food as advertised isn’t adequate even for 2adults. Whiles I’ll give them an easy 5star for the chicken wings and fried rice, the portions are perhaps for 1adult and a small child and not for 3adults as advertised. We had to order from off the menu in addition to the “unlimited package” we had paid for. We complained to the co owner (lady) and further informed her of other disappointing comments we had heard from other patrons. Not sure if I’ll return as I felt we didn’t get value for money especially on the meals.
