Friderica House — Hotel in Argostoli Municipality

We had a wonderful stay at this little place, and everything about it exceeded expectations. Our apartment was cleaned to a high standard every day without fail. It is a block away and just up hill from a surprisingly (given the slightly mixed reviews we'd read) pleasant, sheltered and clean beach, which was uncrowded even in August. Our 6 year old, who normally has fairly mixed feelings about swimming in the sea rather than a pool, loved it. Perhaps the less positive reviews of Poros Beach are of the part of the beach closer to the port, which is slightly scruffier, but even so not that bad. The Frederica is close to a couple of small bars across the road from the beach. We didn't frequent these bars ourselves because the music was a little too loud for us and not to our taste, but we did use their sunbeds (€5 per day for 2 beds + parasol) because the music was barely if at all audible from the beach itself. It also wasn't audible from our room or balcony at the Frederica by the way in case you were wondering. Even if you fancy a pool rather than the sea, a short walk along the sea front is the Paradise Pool Bar, a clean and reasonably priced place, which doesn't charge for sunbeds or use of the pool if you eat and drink there. All in all, don't be put off by negative stuff you might hear about Poros. Unless you're after throbbing nightlife or something it's fine. We actually prefer it to Skala where we've stayed on previous visits, which is more package touristy, and has a much more crowded beach, even if it does arguably have better eating...

Friderica's house was the best choice of accommodation we could have made. I stayed in Friderica's house with my partner for a week. The room was very spacious, with a balcony and great sea view. The room was spotless and equipped with absolutely everything we needed and more, including air conditioning, kitchen and all kitchen utensils. Friderica is also very welcoming and was happy to help us with any questions about where to go. The village of Poros is quiet but has nice places to eat and drink, as well as shops, all within walking distance. And the beach in front of the appartments is a blue flag beach.
