Just stayed at poros house hotel for a ten night stay and cannot recommend it enough!|The accommodation is basic but clean and comfortable. |Plenty of hot water with high water pressure, so much so, it knocked my toothpaste of the brush twice before I got used to it! |Breakfast is juice, coffee and delicious fresh bread from the bakery, except from Sunday when it was toast (presumably because the bakery was closed)|The hotel is a few paces from a stony beach with crystal clear water, further south along the beach you will find free sun beds with parasols at family fotis restaurant absolutely no obligation to eat there but if you do you won't be disappointed. |We hired a car from Pefanos car rental at the airport and poros is easy to find, indeed anywhere on the island is and roads are quiet but narrow and steep if going through the mountain. When entering poros we did a couple of laps of the village before finding the hotel and only then because Angelo was stood outside waving. the hotel sign is covered if you come from the sea by a neighbours tree. My advice to find the hotel is on entering poros the post office is in front of you, turn left over a little bridge 1st right and the hotel is almost at the bottom of the street on the left. If you go wrong find Steki bar by the beach and the hotel is directly behind it.|Poros has plenty of restaurants that we could have eaten at a different place every night all reasonably priced with variety however we returned to fotis family, Steki bar and Bello more than once as these were our favourites. | The real beauty of the hotel is the hospitality you will receive. Angelo and Anna treat you like friends from the outset and nothing is too much trouble for them. If you get chance, spend an evening chatting they have had very interesting lives and you will leave having learnt a lot. |Do not visit poros house if you expect 5 star luxury but do if you want 5 star hospitality. If I visit kefalonia again I would not stay...
Read moreAngelo and Anna welcome guests like family. The situation is perfect with the sounds of lapping waves putting you to sleep at night if you sleep with doors open. We stayed in Room 17 which had 2 bedrooms, 1 with aircon and double bed - room faces mountain and other faces the bay, 2 single beds and fan, no aircon. The bathroom is a wet room with hand held shower, hook for shower to be overhead would be great. Linen is white cotton, clean and fresh. Kitchen area has wash up facility, 1 plate stove, kettle and fridge. Why cook when you have a choice of fabulous tavernas at the bottom of the steps. We were a little disappointed in Fotis but highly recommend Taverna Agrapidos food and view, Syeki Grill where nothing is too much trouble, Dionysos and think the last one was called Hello Bello which had delicious fare. All on seafront and charming. I would highly recommend it as it was very reasonable and well situated. Poros is laid back and not a high end resort but has a stunning beach to the far left with umbrellas and loungers. Supermarket 10 steps from hotel has drinks, yogurt, fresh fruit etc. Lovely gift shop and generally prices lower than Skala,...
Read moreI stayed at Poros House from August into September and made real friends of Angelo, Anna and their Beautiful Family. All rooms are very comfortable, with cooking facilitites (why would you need it) refrigeration, and fitted with aircon and I have found that the hotel is one of the first built in the resort, The owners and particularly Angelo are of the most interesting charming people I have met. The location is ideal and the sound of the waves on the beach 20 seconds away demand you sleep with your door open and enjoy the relaxing surf sounds. This is not five star luxury but its exactly what the doctor ordered for me, and real world with views from the sea facing rooms to die for. Dead In the centre of poros, and free from any late night sounds, its an ideal location, hotel and company via the owners, to enjoy the beautiful resort of Poros Town. A hotel and place I am sure to visit gain more than once, see you soon...
