My friend and I stayed here 13/08/18 - 20/08/18 and I can honestly say that I could not have stayed here another night!|We arrived in the afternoon after a 3 and a half hour flight after being dropped off by our taxi transfer. There was no one in sight to greet us and it was only after about 5 minutes of walking around and shouting "hello?" that someone came out to greet us. This is because there is no reception area (more on that later). We were shown to our room (number 11) and basically left to it. There were no proper introductions or advice on what to do if we needed anything.|The room itself was ok - it's a basic apartment so you get what you pay for really. Considering it was meant to be a self catering apartment though, the cooking facilities had definitely seen better days (it looked about 30 years old). It consisted of 2 very old hob rings and a kettle. The bathroom was a little old and could have done with re-tiling and the toilet seat was hanging off.|The apartments were advertised as having a pool and pool bar (this has since been updated). The only water in our pool was stagnant water at the bottom which seemed to be home to frogs, dragonflies and mosquitos. It was a disgusting green/brown colour and my friend and I were bitten none stop throughout our week-long holiday by the mosquitos breeding in the pool; they seemed to be immune to any of the repellents that we tried. |The pool bar, which I believe also doubles as a reception was shut throughout the holiday.|Our apartment bins were not emptied until the third day and they were overflowing. The apartment was not cleaned once during our stay and our towels were only changed because we left them in a pile outside our door with a note asking for them to be changed (I think they must have felt bad about it because our bed sheets were changed that day too).|As mentioned before, the pool was empty but there were no safety procedures in place to ensure that no one fell in - there were lights around the pool at night but they were not switched on! Massive health and safety risk! Anyone coming back in the dark after a few drinks could quite easily slip and fall into the "pool" not to mention children.|We booked a trip whilst we were there and the agent emailed our hosts with our trip tickets. They also tried ringing several times but to no avail. We never did get our tickets, the trip agent had to let us on without them. |In conclusion, this place could be lovely but unfortunately the lack of customer service and facilities let it down badly. We spoke to other people who were staying there at the same time as us and none were happy with the place. |If you want to stay in this area I would consider staying at the Astra, which is about a 10 minute walk away from these apartments. We spent a lot of our time there as the pool is open to the public. The customer service is excellent and the food in the restaurant...
Read moreJune 2019. Booked through Teletext Holidays in February.. Asked for a self-catering apartment with a double bed, swimming pool and close to the beach. Turned up to two (uncomfortable) single beds... no water in the pool even though the official website showed photos with water in it (another English couple there said Travel Republic called Pythos specifically to ask if there would be water in the pool this year and somebody lied)... a long walk to the shops to buy food and water for the self-catering apartment as there was no shop, bar or restaurant at Pythos (buildings and apartments were shuttered up) - and even longer walks to the beaches (the closest being directly under the flight path for other holidaymakers coming to sample the delights of Kefalonia! Pythos also charge extra for the air conditioning when they know you're not likely to spend much time in the apartment or on the complex because there is no point in sunbathing by an empty pool! They said they don't have water in the swimming pool at this time of the year, and when I started to complain about the lack of (as in NO) facilities, I got told sorry, don't understand English (with a smile) - nasty. I was there 10 days on my own (48 year old female with a grown up son who prefers to holiday with his wife these days!), and didn't always feel safe walking through the desolate areas to get anywhere - that's after feeling perfectly safe holidaying on my own in Croatia and Beijing. I've travelled quite a bit but this apartment, with holes in the shower taps spurting water in your eyes when you bent down to pick up the shampoo, holes in the walls, paint peeling off, wires sticking out, a plug socket coming off, loose wiring in a bedside lamp, the cooker hob directly under the curtains at the window and a musty smell coming from the wardrobe, was by far the worst place I've ever stayed in - and I'm not fussy! I have written a letter of complaint to Teletext and recommended that they remove Pythos from their list of holiday destinations. Kefalonia itself is beautiful and I walked past plenty of other hotels with inviting looking pools, so don't let Pythos Apartments put you off going to Kefalonia - just make sure you read the reviews BEFORE you book anywhere and don't be too trusting...
Read moreWe've stayed at various places in Kefalonia over the past 10 years. Having read reviews, I knew that we weren't in for a luxury experience. Our needs aren't great - as a family with 2 children, we wanted somewhere quiet, basic and clean for our 2 weeks in this beautiful island. We're prepared to overlook basic old fashioned facilities to get that. We booked a 1 bedroom studio in the old block. Certainly, the gardens and pool area are very nice and peaceful and the studio was clean on arrival. The main issues we had were the attitude towards looking after guests here and the sloppy housekeeping during our stay . On 3 occasions, the loo bins weren't emptied and when the outside temperature is 40 degrees, there is an expectation that these will be cleared daily. This didn't happen on 3 occasions. After 2 days of waiting, I went to the pool bar to speak to the owners who said it would be done tomorrow. After protesting to no avail, I brought the bin bags out to the owner and asked for them to be disposed of as well as some replacement bin liners only to be met with a look of disdain. Room cleaning/bed linen change didn't happen until 8 days into our break and it was not done again until we vacated the room. There are no cleaning materials available meaning that the inevitable build-up of sand/food and other stuff expected when you have 2 small children became irritating as well as attractive for ants, flies and other insects. During our stay, I got the impression that the owners were tight-wads with spending anything to improve the place and their guests' experience and certainly an example of this was the sole, aged bedside lamp in our studio was held together with a bad repair job of insulation tape. Loo roll would have been a nice touch as well as a bar of crappy courtesy soap. Speaking to other guests, the overall impression was of a place where the guests are an inconvenience to the owners who don't really care much whether guests have a good stay or not. Had the famed Greek hospitality and welcome been better, I could have overlooked some of the quirks of this place, but instead, they just became annoying and I was very...
