Editing my review as I cannot reply to the owners comment.
First of all it's amazing the owners recall welcoming with a smile. The only interaction with anyone other than the young girl waiting tables, who, was doing a good job and did not stop all the time we were seated, was when asking for the bill to another woman. That also took a long time to receive and I thought she had forgotten.
The stray cats wandering around the tables gave more attention than she did. And before you start 'owner' I know cats are hanging around most restaurants in the area.
One of them was unfortunate enough to receive some of your bland chicken when we left and promptly ran into the road towards an oncoming car with it. Not sure what that tells you. Fortunately it darted back out of the way quickly. Unfortunately it may live to receive the chicken another day.
If you advertise as a music bar, maybe have some live music or something, not just a CD playing in the background.
My car has a CD player, I don't claim it's a concert hall.
You could do better, but you clearly don't care, and there is the problem.
Slow in service so maybe Slow in the head.
I tried to be fair with my review if you read it again. Instead you have started your defense mechanism.. I'm not 'funny' and I don't find fault with everything. I give a honest review. Truth hurts it appears and that does not ’fit in’ with you.
Although clearly you don't like advice so future customers will read into your reluctance to take constructive criticism as they will.
Your clearly correct and your customers are wrong. But hey, don't worry 7 days later you have new rotation of customers so why care.
I'll be blunt now though. The Tzatziki carried the meal. Likely pre-made, if not, well done you got one thing to taste good. Pat yourself on your ignorant head.
The chicken was dry and bland. The salad was poor. The service was slow. To be honest we looked up this place prior to arriving and looked forward to it.
Have your heard of seasoning? Come on, a little dressing on the salad would help, maybe some herbs on the chicken at least.
We came away disappointed. Others will too. Look around at your customers. You're not doing as well as you protest.
People often will not complain, they just will not return.
Also, you were not crazy busy, you just had a lot of people sat around waiting, not busy with people be served...that was my point, turn the tables quicker and move people to the bar area that was completely empty but you could not eat in there. Your tables are full, I agree, but your not serving those tables.
For customers thinking of going here...
Milos is very good. Short walk to the seafront, approx 7 mins further.. Go there. Lovely staff and great food. Also ...La Tavolta next to astra mini market. We returned several times to both. Again lovely staff, a real feel of homemade food being served.
Original review that the owner did not like....
Service was slow. A place like this should turn tables quicker as there is a large bar area for diners to go to after the meal.
Souvlaki was just plain grilled chicken. Normally there is some seasoning. Well there was when we ordered elsewhere anyway. We went for the Chicken Gyros but it was crossed out in the menu.
Not sure what the music bar is all about, it was just a CD playing in the background, might have been NOW 11 or something similar.
Maybe we ordered the wrong meal, but you just get that feel when you look around and people are not happy with the speed of the service.
We only had one drink through the meal despite the glasses being empty as we were not asked if we wanted another.
Once we paid for the meal and drink we walked down towards the coast and spent a couple of hours there for drinks.
Porto Helis, turn tables, push drinks, get people to the bar area after good service and they...
Read moreWe eat here all the time as our place of choice.
With our family and friends we’ve been visiting for years, Tereza and Leo are the most pleasant of hosts; they actually take pride in every dish, every drink, every table and without exception every single Guest experience.
There are two parts to the venue, a very attractive and inviting restaurant and next door somewhere to chill and relax in a bar setting that’s more “like being at a friends house” with a great atmosphere, gentle lighting and the best stocked bar you will see in a lifetime of travelling.
Fine spirits you only read about are displayed beautifully with the objective of giving you a great time. The prices are far better than other local venues and almost negligible when compared to some places around the square in Agostoli.
Don’t be surprised if you see Guests hugging the staff it’s that kind of place, if you prefer silence and silver service with dishes served back to back so they can turn over the tables three times a night then go elsewhere.
Porto Helis will delight you every time, it’s the place you can safely take family and friends and to know they will thank you for a great decision.
Thank you Tereza and Leo, Dori and all of the staff especially the Kitchen team who work so hard to present beautiful food perfectly cooked even when...
Read moreOverrated with 4.6. The food was the worst so far in the island. It was burned -all of them- and had to wait more than 40 minutes for that.
The stuff was strange, we arrived here to eat, not to take away. We were 3 families, 11 people. They told, no place for 11. It's okay. We told we can sit separetaly, because they had 2 free tables. They told we had to sit in the bar, and they tell us if there are free tables. There were no Reserved tables on any tables. Meanwhile they asked for the orders. When we finished there were 4 free tables, they didnt want to combine the tables, just told to sit in the bar. 20 minutes later they combined 3 tables for new clients. And there were 2 more free tables.
Only good thing was the price in this restaurant. The bar was okay, for the drinks they gave...
