Ammes Beach — Attraction in Argostoli Municipality

Nothing to complain about but for me th Ai Helis beach is better all round. €7 for sunbeds and parosol is cheaper by €1, but it felt more crammed. The food menu if you want to eat isn't as nice and the sea did seem to have more of a ledge for the little ones. Parking wasn't easy, you need to find space along the road. Beer in glass though, and huge selection of ice creams. All very minor points, just found the other beach better all round. If you're a plane spotter you'll love this one as they fly very low overhead (landing). There seemed limited mobile signal, but they do offer free WiFi which was fast. There are the turtle nests to look at and access is far easier, gentle slope as opposed to the steep steps at Ai Helis. Portoloo toilets!!!! Finally, the sun lounger chap was more than a bit...

I don't get why someone would give this beach a good rating unless they only get to see a beach once in a while and they got super excited for seeing the sea. There are a lot of much nicer beaches in Kefalonia, this one is rather small, has big waves that difficult the swimming and it's literally full of seaweed touching your feet as you walk inside. Went there on a Sunday afternoon because it was just one of the options the few buses from the very bad communicated center of town (Argostoli) was offering. Just go there if it's close and want to sunbathe or chill for a while, maybe you can also watch some planes departing very close over the beach which is quite a cool...

Spent a couple of days on this beach towards the end of our holiday. Although at the weekend it wasn't too crowded and those that were there generally didn't annoy us. Good sized sun umbrellas which is a must for us as, although we love the heat, both my wife and I prefer being in the shade than direct sun. Beds are also well maintained and as comfortable as you might expect. Cost of two beds and umbrella is seven Euros which seems on a par with elsewhere, maybe even a bit cheaper.
