Hotel George — Hotel in Icaria Municipality

We choose a room without balcony, it was on the top (3rd) floor and really tiny. In the room there is a coffee machine but it’s kind of unusable, I’ve run it only with water to clean first and the color of the water stopped me from using the machine for coffee. At night when we returned to the room, there was a quite disgusting smell (for those who has a sensitive nose) coming from the drain placed on the bathroom floor. The receptionist Eleni is really kind and nice. About the location, if you’re not going to use the thermal water (hot spring) in this part of the island and if you are coming to discover the beaches like Armenistis, Messakti do not choose this part of the island. The mountain is a must way to cross from one part to the other and it takes more than 1 hour in really curvy roads and in mountainside. Ikaría - Ικαρία paese di Termá - Θερμά. Se arriverete dal porto di Agios Kirikos, tranne che non siate, come me, con due trolley ed uno zaino, patiti della fatica, prendete un taxi ed in pochi minuti arriverete. Altrimenti noleggiate un'auto od uno scooter, ma non avventuratevi in quella che Maps definisce una passeggiatina di un chilometro e mezzo. Saranno quattro chilometri e tutti o quasi in salita molto ripida, cominciando dalla scalinata di partenza, fino ad ammirare da mto in alto il porto di arrivo prima e, dopo un paio di colline ancora, il panorama di Termá dall'alto. Sotto il sole cocente, poi, una vera goduria. Ciò detto, arrivati a destinazione, sarete lieti che l'hotel George vi apparirà, in una piccola stradina ombreggiata, forse il miglior posto dove soggiornare ad Ikaría. È a duecento passi dalla piazzetta principale, al porticciolo, nonché dalle fonti termali libere e da quelle private. La proprietaria è una gradevole e simpatica Elena, che parla un inglese bello e fluente. Io conosco solo la camera dell'ultimo piano, il terzo, arredata con molto buon gusto, con l'uso della prospiciente terrazza, che è il tetto di servizio del sottostante locale, ma un tavolo e un ma sedia sana ci sono! Nonostante la preoccupante presenza di zanzariera sulla finestra del bagno, da molte ore ormai la finestra della camera (che ne è sprovvista) e la porta sono aperta) e non c'è traccia neppure della fotografia di mezza zanzara. Oh Isola Felice! Usciti, appena girato l'angolo, troverete una deliziosa trattoria dove la cuoca è pure proprietaria e cameriera, con due tavolini accanto l'ingresso ed altri quattro in tutto dall'altra parte della strada. Fidatevi e restate lì. Non trovando posto oppure volendo cenare nella classica taverna greca isolana dell'immaginario collettivo, fate cento metri in più e, alla piazzetta, troverete la taverna Paralia. Io mi son trovato troppo bene. Chiedete cosa hanno fuori menù, che di solito sono i piatti migliori e più convenienti. Poco oltre il Paralia un girarrosto ed altri due locali. Io ho provato solo il Paralia, ma mi44rvlle mi dice male la momwbekDopo cena, attraversata la piazzetta ed andata con fiducia al Mana bar. Ampio, fresco, giovanile ed elegante quanto basta. L'indomani, alle acque marine termali pubbliche od a quelle private!...

Nice 10 room hotel, located about 400 feet from the beach and Hot Mineral Baths. Stayed here in June 2007, just before the 'busy' July-August months. Hotel Manager Eleni, speaks fluent English. Beach area is quite busy and loud, so our stay at the hotel was relaxing, being a short walk away from the crowds. Inexpensive and clean; very inviting. We didn't need it, but the rooms|are airconditioned (each room has its own control). TV's in|the rooms, as well as a refridgerator (which we were VERY|happy about!). |Therma is about a 15 minute drive from the airport, and|about 2 km from Agios Kirikos (the capital of Ikaria).|Would recommend the hotel, and would stay there|again without any...
