Hotel Metropolis — Hotel in Ioannina Municipality

We loved Ioannina !! Stayed only for I night and chose the Hotel Metropolis which turned out to be a very good and convenient choice.||We could easily walk to the Lake , the Castle and all the restaurants of the old town.||I have deep respect and admiration for those who choose to restore an old building into something beautiful again. This giving of a new lease of life is so inspiring and in most of the cases it takes alot of effort, work and money to accomplish. ||The grandfather of the present owner opened the hotel and the present owner, rebuilt the interior almost from scratch while keeping the classical facade. Quite a task!!||The result is commendable. The rooms and bathrooms are comfortable, clean and the decor is modern and tasteful.||Although on a main street, when the windows were closed and the AC was on, there was no noise disturbance.||My only problem was the mattress. Although the hotel has Cocomat mattresses, which are amazing usually....and this was one of the reasons I chose the hotel.....my one was in definite need of change!||The breakfast, served at the table due to Covid, was exceptional. We had a surprise over night stay in Ioannina, we had to leave Corfu suddenly because the ferry boats were going on strike. So we drove until it was late and found this gem to park ourselves for the night. The owner came out himself to help us find the parking area and help guide my husband into the parking lot. Such lovely caring people The hotel has been meticulously redone with all the modern conveniences but somehow as retained its classical charm. We arrived late and it was a rainy night, so the bartender helped us order a pizza from a local pizza place that delivered. We were served drinks in the bar area while we ate our pizza and then went to bed. Our room was very comfortable and beautiful. The next morning we woke up to breakfast in the common area, the platters, yes not plate, the platters were piled high with all sorts of morning deliciousness. The perfect choice for Ioannina!

First of all- super easy to reach with your car! It's located on the main road, and it's very easy to drop off your luggage or find parking nearby (we found one really close, but I know there are a few parking garages around). It's located mere few hundred meters from the city center and the old town. Everything was reachable by foot and we didn't have to move our car at all!

The rooms themselves are brand new and stunning. We were given a free upgrade to a deluxe room and it was amazing! Super clean and spacious.

The staff were also very very nice and accommodating. A big shout-out to Vasilis, who gave us fabulous dinner recommendations, helped with planning our day, and the next morning even got there extra early to make sure we have time for breakfast since we had to leave early!! He was so nice, he really loves his job and it was important for him that everything went perfectly.
