Hotel Astoria — Hotel in Ioannina Municipality

Positive: great, central location, good & free wifi, pleasant reception staff, clean bedding & towels. Negative: My room looked out into the interior duct of the building. Unfortunately, pigeons have made that space their hangout and the window sill of both the bedroom and the bathroom were covered with pigeon poo. I don't have anything against pigeons per se, but they are dirty birds and if it is known that the room will be occupied (and I had a reservation), that absolutely should have been cleaned! Cracked AC/heat unit (with a pigeon feather!), moldy grout around around the tiles in the shower, toilet flushed with very little pressure (don't want to go into detail here...), and the wood cabinets in the bathroom were cracked from the moisture. The water in the shower was running rusty-brown for the first 5 minutes. The overnight stay was only 35 euro, but I've I had much better value for similar prices. I was in this Hotel for 10 days during the Christmas holiday, it is in a great location, right downtown, walking distance to the lake museums, all restaurants, the rooms are simple with a the necessary amendments, like bathtub bathroom, t.v., very well heated, extremely clean, and the best part of it, is the service, there wasn't anything I asked for that wasnt' given to me. I especially liked Mr Kostas who was always ready to help, the owner, given us all the info of what to see and where to go. Here's the best part, the rate I couldn't believe how resonable it was, especially at this time, which probably is there peak time. Stayed here for one night, while driving through Ioannina. ||||Located on a quiet street, just off the main street and nearby to many shops, restaurants, cafes and attractions. The location is perfect - you can walk to everything, include the fortress walls, castle, lake front, etc.||||Hotel was a reasonable price (40 euros). Hotel staff was very friendly.||||Rooms were very clean, with all the necessary amenities. Nothing flashy, very simple place to sleep. Free slippers!
