As a member of a Gulfstream flight crew, I’m no stranger to hotels. I’ve spent more nights in hotels than my own home probably and became a platinum for life Marriott member by the time i was 29. Of all the unique places I’ve stayed around the world, this Kamares is hands down in my top 3. Location is perfect, tucked away on a quiet street off the bustling Main Street, it’s a short walk (2 minutes or less) to all the city center cafes and restaurants and also to the lake. I found this 17th century (Ottoman) mansion, with its beautifully curated rooms, absolutely mesmerizing. Maria and the rest of the family were perfectly accommodating and helpful. They were wonderful at assisting with anything from shopping and restaurant tips to arranging a car hire (only 45€ a day with insurance - no holding fee etc for guests. Super easy!!!) from the moment we arrived my colleagues and I felt welcome and comfortable. Each room is uniquely decorated with gorgeous hand woven rugs and many with fireplaces (you can burn real wood! They provide logs) breakfast is exceptional - everything you could want - all homemade and local. If I ever have the pleasure of returning to this beautiful region, I’d not even consider staying elsewhere. I wish I could have this hotel and staff in every city I travel to!! Thank you to Kamares for such a...
Read moreI had really high hopes for this hotel and awaited my stay here impatiently, only to be met with disappointment. Let me start by saying that the hotel itself is beautiful. We didn't use the spa (but I do find it weird that you have to pay for the jacuzzi which is normally free in 5 star establishments). Onto the bad, I believe we got the worst room available. It's on the last floor so the ceiling is "attic style", meaning you can only stand up straight in half of the room, the other half (where the couch and tv are) you have to crouch down. You can't even use the couch because your head will hit the ceiling if you sit up straight instead of lying down. I'm claustrophobic and felt really uncomfortable in the room. I checked all the pictures on the website and there were NO pictures that show this ceiling, however when I asked front desk for a room change and they said there were no availabilities, the receptionist told me there were pictures on the website and I just didnt see them and they can't do anything about it. The fact that we paid extra for a deluxe room didn't help. I really wanted to enjoy this hotel more. It's...
Read moreFrom the day of my arrival where I was surprised with an upgrade in my room till my departure, I have nothing negative to add. From the location which is 3 minutes’ walk from the Ioannina Castle to the central Market to the actual Hotel which is considered a historical monument of the city. The professionalism and warmth of the staff and the owner’s as well to meet my every need, the spotless clean rooms, the parking nearby the welcome treats in the room. The Hotel is a real Jem for the City of Ioannina. It depicts the love and work of the owners. The decoration and the attention to every detail that travels you back into another era is unique. It exceeded my expectations. I will revisit and recommend this Hotel or any of the other two “Archontariki” and “Stoes” that belong to this group and display the same feeling and services. The Stoes have also an exceptional restaurant and all are centrally located! So...
