This restaurant serves "reinvented" Greek food French style. The waiter explained that they serve traditional Greek dishes in a new way. In other words, they "reinvent" them. We had the 5 course degustation menu for 55 €, which cost just 35 € a year ago, as you can see on the pictures posted by another user. This was accompanied by the premium wine pairing for 25 €. The food was served as one expects from French cuisine: amuse bouche, cold appetizer, hot appetizer, fish, meat, dessert. Unlike French cuisine, bread did not accompany the courses, but a small amount was served between the hot appetizer and the fish course. The food and the wine pairing were excellent. However, we left hungry. The portions of both the food and wine were tiny. Food portions being small is not uncommon in fine dining, but in traditional French cuisine, this is compensated by a large bread basket, which is also nice for any remaining sauce. Of course, we could have ordered a bread basket, but as the restaurant did not serve much bread as part of a 55 € menu, we were actually expecting the main courses to be larger. In any case, the total amount of food served in this menu would leave almost anyone hungry. I would expect a wine pairing to amount to half a bottle of wine for the first 4 courses (everything except desert). The bill indicated for each course 75 ml, but I would estimate more like 50 ml, so maybe 200 to 250 ml for 4 courses. All in all, everything seemed stingy. On a bright note, the waiter was excellent and explained everything in great detail. Photos of the food and wine glasses as served...
Read moreHands down the best restaurant we had in Greece. Thamon is Greek fusion using elements and ingredients from Epirus. The food was amazing, and quite frankly, a culinary experience.
We come from an international metropolis and we can safely say the quality of food here is comparable to Michelin star restaurants there. You can tell a lot of thought and effort was put into the conceptualization and preparation of every dish on the menu. Top it off with amazing service from the staff. There was nothing we didn't like about the place.
We were two people and we ordered three items and a dessert. Portions were perfect for us. For the price and quality, this place is very good value. If you are looking for traditional greek food for 10 euros to feed a whole family then please look...
Read moreIt was an exceptional, outstanding fine dining experience. The thought, passion and effort that goes into every dish is remarkable and to the highest standards. Every item has its own unique flavour profile that went great with the other components of the dish. Like a traditional τραχανάς, a sort of hearty soup which was made into a risotto-style dish with smoked eel: it was mind-blowing. The wines were tasty, the staff was super friendly and when we asked if we could have a bit more time in between the dishes (to savour each taste) was promptly answered and anticipated on. Thamon is really a nice restaurant if you like the contemporary modern style of Greek flavours á la Nolan or even Michelin starred restaurants in Athens. And don't forget to have the premium...
