The best thing about Sani resort is undisputed . The service from the hundreds of staff who work at the hotel is consistently excellent.
The family resort is vast and almost spotless in terms of maintenance, cleanliness and general appearance. It’s more like a perfect small Greek village. Taxi and golf carts whizz you about the different places (all complimentary) but you do have to qué during busy times like the dinner rush!
The rooms vary from resort to resort, but feel smaller in Sani beach. Beds are okay (not super comfortable), rooms are clean and have all the usual 5 star amenities including room service, porter, , mini bar, safe etc.
The resort has adult areas, but be warned, even out of season it’s packed with children and babies.
Entertainment is good, but not world class. The shows are fun and vibrant, but are not a patch on a real London west end show.
The spas (we tried them in all the resorts) were mainly good, as were the swimming pools. Although sadly the Sani beach spa was a bit smelly and the steam room or experience shower didn’t work properly and this spa was not as clean and well maintained as the others.
Pool temperatures vary from resort to resort, Im not going to tell you which had the warmest and coldest pools to avoid causing overload of some areas.
The gyms were all top notch with a good selection of machines, free weights and even outdoor areas including running track.
A typical bottle of local wine in one of the 27 restaurants starts from around 45 euros and outside the resort expect to pay as little as 2 euro for a bottle of local wine, where wine is cheaper than water.
The food on half-board was good from the eat all you can buffet or one can opt for the “dine around” to try another one of 27 restaurants. There is however a major catch to this!
All the dine around restaurants only offer a very limited choice if you don’t want to pay an extra over the top supplement. Included in the price they all offer cheap dishes like soup, chicken thigh, pork steak, seabass fillet, greek salad and ice cream for desserts, which are all available on the buffet (eat as much as you like) anyway.
The prime food on the dine around menus is all offered at an excessive supplement charge for which you get a tiny gesture of 20 euro per person off the bill, which sadly won’t even buy a starter in most of the restaurants. Expect to pay 20-30 euros for a starter and 30-80 euro for a main course plus drinks!
If you want to eat real prime ingredients like wild fish (not cheap farmed Greek seabass or bream), lobster, steak or scallops, its not included in any of the 27 restaurants or the buffet, so not really 5 star!
One speciality restaurant makes bold claims of having a Michelin star chef and will cost you 200 euro per person (Open water). Don’t be fooled, none of the restaurants have a Michelin star despite the mention on the menu, but they do have Michelin prices!!
The buffet is however good in all venues (4x buffets in total) and offered a wide choice of dishes. Sani buffets are certainly not a patch on 5 star las Vegas buffets and never feature dishes such as prime rib roast, lamb rack, veal chop, crab claws, langoustines or oysters. Instead they offer cheap cuts of pork, chicken, pasta, salads, cheese, bread and in some restaurants pizzas and local farmed seabass, all cooked to a good standard.
Sun beds are plentiful and breakfast was generally good, although they did try to palm us off with carton orange juice when they ran low on the freshly squeezed. We also spotted staff recycling orange juice that was left on the tables by other guests and making up a new jug for new guests, not the most hygienic practice.
Generally we enjoyed the food, but it was not Sani's best feature.
If you’re a foody you will most likely be disappointed. The best meals we had were out side the resort and so much cheaper.
Overall I would recommend this resort for any family with children who can afford this luxury 5 star utopia and puts convenience and vip service as a high...
Read moreWe stayed here mid April 2019 for 8 days. The weather was changeable but we had some decent sunny days if a little on the cold side at night. When we booked the resort we expected the amazing facilities, it's 5 star after all. The huge grounds, multiple infinity swimming pools, beaches both sides, wetlands wildlife, forest, walks, views, comfortable rooms, children's entertainment, good food. But we never quite realised the level of service we'd get from every single member of staff. I really do mean EVERY single member of staff. And this hotel was very well staffed at every level. Turn any corner and there was a member of staff to greet you, smile at you, check you're ok or if you need something. Even at 2 in the morning! It's all about the staff. They treated us like royalty. I've never experienced anything like it before. I treat everyone as an equal - my life rule. But the staff here at the hotel went above and beyond all day every day. The food! Well I've already mentioned it was good. It's a buffet - there are restaurants too but the buffet. The buffet, the buffet, the buffet. Every night different. Every night amazing. Normally I go on holiday and quite look forward to getting home and eating home cooked food. Not at Sani - not even close. Food won't ever be the same again. They've taken it to a different level.
You sometimes wonder what it would be like to live like a King. To have your every need catered and cared for.
Tamara (reception) - treated us like she was family. When we had a problem - she had my number - and continually checked on us until the problem was resolved. And she really did resolve it in a way some hotels could only dream about. I sort of felt embarrassed at how we'll she looked after us.
Andreas (Poseidon restaurant) - at the restaurant morning noon and night, always smiling and welcoming. If only every restaurant had an Andreas in charge. Restaurant around the world take note.
Kudos (Poseidon restaurant) - showing how waiting should be done. But that's doing him a disservice. He’s so much more than that. If the lights went out - his smile would sort out any darkness. Sorry - but its true. A true gentleman if ever there was one.
Dimitra (Poseidon restaurant) - just as lovely as you could possibly imagine. Always concerned and checking we were ok at the restaurant. Had a difficult day and she just came up to me, even though she wasn't serving our table, to check on my wife to see she was ok.
Romeo - quietly efficient. Never stopped, always helpful. Just enjoyable watching him work helping other guests with their every need. Carrying food back for the kids - just quietly perfect.
Aristea - always had a smile. Wish every restaurant had an Aristea. Nothing but genuine concern for her tables. I think we all enjoyed being recognised and acknowledged. It makes you feel special.
Konstantinos - another “Wish every restaurant had a” Konstantinos. I mean seriously - service with a genuine smile. But not just service, I can't even think of the correct descriptive words but there are many.
Noela - prepares all the drinks. But does it with a smile. No frowns no hassles, just working hard for every dribk she made us and everyone else! To be fair it's more than likely she's be missed off reviews like this - but - she still absolutely deserves a mention.
Petros (chef) - just happy! A happy chef always said hello - always friendly. The kids loved to watch him cook. Sort of like a TV chef, but no stress. Just good at what he was doing.
Tasos - another chef who appeared to be just working so hard. In and out of the kitchen replenishing everything that needed replenishing.
It's important to point out the restaurant staff - all of them - were simply showing the rest of us - how to run a restaurant - Or in this case - a buffet. The Poseidon.
I really think...
Read moreJust returned from our stay at Sani Beach. Overall would highly recommend! In the past we used to stay at PORTO SANI when kids were tiny (it is perfect for babies and primary school age kids) but now as teenagers they can experience so much more in the resort. However, few things worth mentioning in case these are a dealbreaker for some. We stayed at Junior Suite Sea View on the 2nd floor and the bathroom was VERY dated & the housekeeping lacks - our room floor has not been properly cleaned neither on day of arrival nor at any point during the stay. The rooms are not soundproof and half way through the stay, seems like a guest swap over took place, we had to listen to another guest snore terribly at nights and listen to someone whistling in the shower in the mornings. Again, not the end of the world just a bit annoying. Some towels've seen better days, few had obvious black stains. The view of the sea from the room however was spectacular 24/7!!! Complimentary daily bottled water and coffee capsules refill is amazing! The concierge WhatsApp is a bit hit & miss, it does seem like you are chatting to a bot half the time, generic answers which sound more like an AI generated reply and when booking the activities people at the concierge desk actually do NOT have access to the live systems on locations and are not able to assist in anyway which is frustrating as you cannot book the wanted activity online because everything gets booked quickly but people don't show up and their spots don't get filled as there is an obvious disconnect between what goes on in the internal systems which leaves kids disappointed; to be frank it is not very fair when someone books the same activity twice but then doesn't show up while other people don't get a chance at all.
95% of people we dealt with were very helpful and accommodating: Olga and Xenia at guest relations/ front desk. George at Ammos made our dinner with his smile and hospitality unlike his female colleagues who completely dismissed my daughter's requests for a blanket. Eva and Elma at Ergon on Marina are fabulous, two meals we had there were great (cheese pies are a big hit with the kids). Erica at Psaroyannos was very helpful (best moussaka in Sani!)
Andrei at guest relations/front desk however does need to work on his customer service skills and smile.
The food potions are very generous and the food is always fresh, there is a wide selection across all the hotels and the marina to choose from.
The cost of water however is obscene: 8,5 euro for a bottle of 750ml Acqua Panna (at The Market at Sani Dunes) or 5,50/7 euro for a bottle of local water. What I absolutely disliked is how the waiters bring you most expensive water on the menu after you tell them you would like still/sparkling water. Honestly?! I get this is a way to make extra money and most likely they are trained to do this but SANI please don't treat guests as idiots - even the cheapest bottle of local water is extremely overpriced in the resort and everyone is aware of this. Don't take a piss - just bring the cheapest bottle of water to the table and if someone prefers a specific brand - they will make this known!!!! I much rather leave this money as a tip for the service for the staff's hard work than feeling like I am being robbed in this way and end up asking for a jug of tap water instead.
The selection of complementary activities in the resort for adults and kids is absolutely amazing!
Sea World diving school is so worth mentioning too. Kids did their open water PADI and loved every minute of this experience. Audrey, Kostas, Panos are great, patient and very accommodating. Breathwork class with Sophia at Bousoulas Yoga garden was very...
