We spent our first night in Greece here and we all had a good sleep. The room was spacious and beds were comfortable. Everything was nice and clean. The heater worked well and kept us all warm and cozy. Note that there are no elevators in this guesthouse. You'll need to carry the luggages up the stairs (from outside of the guesthouse going in and another flight of stairs if room is located on the upper floor). We arrived in the evening and there was a helpful and friendly staff at the reception who welcomed us and brought us to our rooms. There is a smart TV in the room with Netflix!! Breakfast spread was good with boiled eggs, various bread, fruits, cereals, sausages and bacon. I think we were the only group staying in the guesthouse plus one other couple. There is a restaurant next door but apart from that, it is quite a walk to Kalambaka town (not really advisable in the cold). We had our meal outside just before arriving at the hotel. |I'm glad we managed to book this guesthouse with Nikos' (Private Greece Tour) help. Otherwise I don't think we would have had the opportunity as the guesthouse was not available for online booking during the Christmas week. This is a warm and cozy guesthouse and we would come back here again. |||Note that toilet papers are disposed in the bins provided and must not be flushed down the toilet (and this applies to any toilets you...
Read moreI don't usually write bad reviews unless something egregious occurs. Just to note the location of the hotel is good and it was clean. Breakfast is ok.
One huge problem- apparently we got the only room with a glass shower door. Mother in law took a shower and came out and the whole door fell and shattered and she had small cuts all over. Fortunately, it did not fall directly on her. The noise was heard throughout the hotel and housekeeping staff went up immediately. We were in a panic and went down to talk to the owner/manager who was not only unsympathetic, unapologetic, but was outright rude. We were told we could not switch rooms because they were full (fine). However, she did not offer an apology and refused any compensation. Ice cold attitude. Perhaps she shouldn't be in the tourism business. We have not experienced this type of treatment anywhere before. I would not be writing this review if the manager did not have such a dismissive and sour attitude.
Luckily, we had an amazing tour operator who fought for us the next morning and told us to take out the room fee from their tour cost and they would go talk to the hotel to...
Read moreWe stayed 4 nights at Iridanos and couldn't be happier with the experience. Seriously- this place has amazing old world charm with fabulous hospitality!
First, the hotel is lovely with spacious rooms that are richly furnished, comfortable beds, plenty of hot water and balconies that have a view of the beautiful Meteora rocks. Breakfast each morning was extremely generous - boiled eggs, Greek yogurt, cold cut meats, cheeses, pastries, fruit, bread, juice and coffee. The perfect meal to start a long day of hiking.
Most importantly, our host, Niki, went out of her way to make sure we had a great experience. Recommending that we take a hiking tour with Visistmeteora and then loaning us a hiking trail map for our additional two days. She even arraigned to have our bags dropped in downtown for us to pickup for our evening train.
Note - it is located a 10 - 15 minute walk outside of the town center but we enjoyed the extra exercise after eating well each evening.
A stay at Iridanos will definitely ensure a memorable experience in this...
