Such a shame i can’t put 10 stars. The restaurant is 10min away from the city, we sent there by chance. The country just re opened few days before. We were alone but they still prepared everything just for us, we really felt extremely honoured for their time and kindness. The service was kind, fast, the perfect time between each dish. Everything was perfectly cooked, seasoned, well done. Tzatziki : made a la minute, lots of garlic the way i love it, with generous toast of bread with olive oil. Perfection. À Nice feta salad with roasted pepper and a touch of chili, a amazing discovery, simple but fresh and lots of taste. Garden salad sooo generous and a lovely sweet dressing, big chunks of halloumi. Fried kefalotyri wich was a relief for us two french already missing cheese. The mains : could be eaten by 2 people ! Chicken souvlaki, fries, little salade and saussages with local porc, can’t tell you how good it was, not fat, lots of herbs and oignon, with the best mayo you’ll ever have (1rst time in my life i ate mayo with fries). For all the details, gifts, Nice touches, efforts to explain us the menu with translations and photos, the joy and the funny waiter that made our night so special, i cannot tell you enough to get straight there ! I’ll come back just for the pleasure to see them and laught with them again (and eat...
Read moreWe drove from Athens to Kalambaka to see the monasteries; on the way back, jet lagged and tired, we saw Elias garden near the highway entrance. Took a chance and walked towards it; there were many locals sitting out in the garden and were glancing towards us, the server came and asked us if we wanted to sit outside. Looking at us he realized that we were hot and tired, he took us inside, turned on all the air conditioners and made us comfortable. When we told them we were vegetarians, out came the chef and Kristina. They sat with us and explained what all they could make for us! We proceeded to have a wonderful meal (best in Greece), it felt like we were at a friend's house. Kristina regaled with her stories of Indian spices and we gave her tips on how to use them. When the meal ended, they asked us to wait before bringing the bill; they had prepared a special dessert for us; that was such a nice gesture. I promised the host that I will make sure that when any of our friends visit Kalambaka, they will stop for a meal at Elias Garden.
Had a fantastic time, we were treated like members of their...
Read moreAll right. We've been here for just a few hours, but our stay couldn't start in a better way than having dinner at Elias Garden. OMG, there's nothing we did not like there. We had the garden salad, zucchini frites, and the beef in a pot. The lady serving us was so attentive to details, and explained properly everything we would experience tonight. After the order, she offered us to experience an entree that unfortunately I can't pronounce the name (you will see the white plate with olives, beetroot, a kind of bread?, and cheese). Our plates were empty at the end (we were full), and to make things even better, she offered us ice cream with a cake.
We are so happy to find a place, definitely a family local business, with such great variety, atmosphere, and hospitality. Depending where you are staying, it is only a little bit of a walk (around 8min) from downtown, but totally worth it. Can't recommend enough. Go, and you won't be...
