We were only here for five days this summer and after our first morning we knew we'd be back for longer. So full disclosure there is a big hill but it's not that bad. There's a lovely dog half way up and a pub at the bottom and at the top (the hotel bar open until 1am). Taxis are cheap and will happily come and get you.
We had a beautiful room with a huge sun terrace complete with sun loungers and a parasol. The room was cleaned regularly and beautifully decorated. An awesome power shower and modern plumbing make a welcome change. A nice touch was the complimentary toiletries replaced regularly also.
The pool and outside bar are stunning. There was a lounger and once there a complimentary 2 litre water and ice bucket arrives which was yet another thoughtful detail. The pool bar snacks and drinks are freshly prepared and reasonably priced. Highly recommended the cocktails which are made with fruits grown in their stunning gardens. The ice cream is worth a mention as it's locally made, delivered daily and has some unique flavour options such as Kinder Bueno (amazing).
Breakfast.... Well there are many options but the fresh coffee and jams are the highlight. I didn't know I needed passion fruit jam in my life until then. Naturally it's all made from the garden fruits by the extremely talented Natalia.
We hadn't planned to eat at the hotel as we weren't here for very long and wanted to check out our old favourites. On this particular evening the largest blood moon of the decade would have been visible. Taking advantage of the hotels panoramic views and height, they put on a magical evening. There was a telescope and live piano music while we ate watching the mood turn bright red. Kostas, Natalia and Vaggelis are amazing hosts. Quite literally moved the entire restaurant outside so guests could see the moon. On another evening I was educated in the art of traditional Greek dancing, Kostas was right in that any song can be danced to using Greek dancing. Vaggelis is hilarious but also an amazing chef. A special shout out to Clio who made the best banoffee pie I've ever had.
This place is amazing at making you want to stay on the hill. We could have easily never ventured down to Elounda town. There are daily specials and activities that offer more than the standard tourist excursion.
In a nutshell, Elounda heights it's relaxing but by no means boring. Packed with personal and thoughtful touches that make it stand out from any other hotel I've stayed at in Elounda. The staff are exceptionally welcoming and have a great sense of humour.
Thanks for a great stay and see you next...
