Wow. We went to Elounda for our first time in 2023 and ate at Lotus Eaters. The service was amazing, it was great to hear how long Dan and his wife had been in Elounda for and how they ended up with the restaurant. We were amazed by the views over the village, as far out to Spinalonga and you can even see Plaka (another lovely little place to visit whilst you’re there) The food was absolutely amazing quality and the portions are just perfect. The cheesecake is so light and you just have to have it. We came back this May and decided to go and book in for our first day and last day. I tried the chicken curry and my fiancée had the pork. Both amazing as always and the pork just fell apart with not an ounce of fat. I don’t usually like pork but had to try it and It was lovely. The last night we ate there again and I went back to my all time favourite - the grilled chicken with fried potatoes. Sounds simple but it so so tasty. My fiancée had the steamed sea bass and again I had to try it and have to say that was delicious. If you’re visiting Elounda you just have to go and dine at Lotus Eaters. You won’t be disappointed. Can’t wait to go back next year and take my parents to the restaurant, highly recommend and thank you to Dan & Team for the amazing food, service, location and most of all for making people feel so welcome and not in a rush to leave. Ps. Apologies for the already started cheesecake… I couldn’t help myself and then remembered to take a photo!

Happened on this venue as I was walking the seafront having been ignored and walked out at the two restaurants downwards. Lotus Eaters' contemporary menu with veggie options enticed me in. The atmosphere is really homely, quiet with a nice ambience the other places don't have. Daniel greeted me and being a single person, accommodated me right away and was really welcoming, helping me choose a vegetarian option from the menu. I went for the roasted vegetable and couscous bake and was not disappointed. A welcome alternative to the usual, oily, meat based fare at a lot of Greek restaurants. I was even offered some lovely garlic flatbread and home made tzaziki dip while I waited. The coffee was also spot on. Friendly, attentive service by Andreea and Daniel, and very generous complimentary additions (bread, fruit, raki, yogurt) that made this special, (all the more appreciated when dining alone). It was a real surprise to get a treat afterwards. If looking at places along this stretch, definitely go to Lotus Eaters. They get the basics absolutely right; attentiveness, friendliness, checking back, and backed up by quality, carefully presented food. The team were clearly dedicated to making each person feel welcome, at least I'd say it's the best dining experience I had while in Crete this week and at a good price! You won't regret it. Yamas! 💛🙏🇬🇷

2024 update We came twice on our return to Elounda and again it didn’t disappoint. They have a new chef but the standard has been maintained. The curry this year is perhaps even better. Maybe the cost of living crisis and hyper inflation has sent me bananas but I was pleasantly surprised to find prices here had not increased - again around €115 for 3 people and 3 courses - that is really good value with the current exchange rate. The cats kept us company again… ====== 2023: Fabulous dinner on our last night in Elounda. Truly exceptional from start to finish with lovely service. Can’t fault it in a single way. The view is spectacular, the price is mid-high €115 for 3 people (2 steaks in that!) 3 courses, wine and water. To start I had a delicious salad (lotus eater salad) which is pictured. My main was the home made curry. It was both spicy and fruit and absolutely fantastic. My son and wife had the pepper streak, I tried a bit and it was superb. Cheese cake to finish (wonderful) and then some gratis home made limoncello… great end to the meal. And their cat nibbles came and sat with us! We were missing our own cats so that made it for us…

We had an absolutely amazing dinner at Lotus Eaters and can’t recommend it enough. From the moment we arrived, the warmth and kindness of the owners made us feel so welcome. Their hospitality and genuine conversation throughout the meal elevated the entire experience.

We started with the bread and dips—each one flavorful, but the standout was the olive tapenade. For our mains, we ordered the sea bass and bream, both of which were perfectly cooked and beautifully filleted table-side by the owner. The presentation and care were exceptional.

We shared a variety of sides that complemented the fish perfectly: crispy fried potatoes, fresh tomatoes with a balsamic drizzle, and a standout vegetable dish seasoned like a Greek ratatouille, topped with creamy feta. Every bite was delicious.

To finish, we had the baklava—and wow. It was truly some of the best we’ve ever had. The accompanying ice cream was incredibly rich and flavorful, making for a perfect ending to a perfect meal.

The waterfront setting was picturesque, with beautiful views and even a few friendly cats that stopped by to say hello. The prices were surprisingly reasonable for the quality of the food and service.

Lotus Eaters is a must-visit in Elounda. We’ll be dreaming of this meal for a long time—and cheering for this wonderful restaurant and its lovely owners to get all the success...
