Petra Elounda Suites — Hotel in Municipality of Agios Nikolaos

BEWARE!

To preface I hate writing negative reviews, but with such a terrible experience and nasty host, we felt everyone should understand what they are risking staying here. We were on our honeymoon and excited to begin our stay in Crete. I will start out by saying Plaka is an amazing little town and recommend staying in the town, but AVOID staying here.

I was initially concerned due to unresponsiveness from the host, which seems, was foreshadowing of our stay.

The bed REEKED of cigarettes and was extremely stiff, sleeping on concrete might be softer. The so called included parking is actually across the main street in a gravel lot with signs saying it's parking ONLY for a specific restaurant and to not park there otherwise, there was no indication this was included for Petra. When we entered the room it was roughly at all 26-27 degrees celsius inside, and with the high ceilings it took about 12 hours for it to come down to a comfortable temperature. The sheets are very rough and expect to feel you are being scratched all night.

These are just the highlights and I could go on about other more minor issues, but I'll hold off on that.

Facing all these issues, and not wanting it to impact our honeymoon, I made the decision to book somewhere else where we had a fantastic experience. After checking in roughly at 9 pm we left just before 9 am the following day, staying for about 12 hours.

Upon relaying this information to the host not only did we hear back roughly 5 hours later, but experienced a very nasty host. I was hoping that the host would be reasonable and could come to an agreement such as paying for half the stay despite only being there for only 12 hours. If a host is reasonable and they had bad previous tenants smoking cigarettes in bed I would have felt it would not be necessary to write a review, but I was then met with a response accusing me that I'm blackmailing them. It was at that point I told them to just go ahead and charge us the full amount, but everyone should know what they are signing up for staying here.

Unless you are a cigarette smoker that likes to smoke in bed, I highly recommend staying elsewhere, I can't emphasize this enough. Plaka is a beautiful quiet town with great restaurants and I can't recommend visiting just definitely in different...

Absolutely fantastic place with an incredible view over the sea. The communication and service were perfect, my partner and I needed a new stay urgently and they helped us right away and made the accomodation super easy and quickly available, really saved us! The place is beautiful, full of nice little details and really beautifully decorated. It's super well equipped as well. We really had an amazing stay, would definitely come back again (this time for longer!) and would recommend to anyone staying in Plaka.
