For the past 20 years, we’ve returned time and again to the magical island of Amorgos – and every time, we’ve stayed at Pension Big Blue. This place is more than just accommodation; it’s a haven of peace, warmth, and heartfelt hospitality.

The owner Phanis, together with his lovely wife and their son Christos, have always welcomed us as if we were part of their own family. Their kindness, generosity, and genuine care make every stay unforgettable. Whether it’s sharing stories, offering local tips, or simply greeting us with a smile, they embody the true spirit of Greek hospitality.

The pension itself is beautifully situated, with stunning views of the sea and the surrounding landscape. The rooms are spotlessly clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully maintained – the perfect base for exploring the island or simply relaxing in the tranquility of Katapola.

We recommend Pension Big Blue to anyone visiting Amorgos – whether it’s your first time or your tenth. If you’re looking for a place with soul, warmth, and a deep connection to the island’s charm, this is it.

Thank you, dear Phanis and family, for two decades of wonderful memories. We’ll be back again soon.

Christos and Fanis are simply the best! They welcomed us with a hug and were extremely kind and helpful! The room was nice, clean and bright, decorated with nice traditional style. The location is wonderful with view over the port of Katapola, the peace and quiet and a beautifully curated garden! They gave us really good suggestions for our itinerary, authentic tavernas and high quality restaurants all over this wonderful island. The kindness of Christos and Fanis will be our favourite memory of Amorgos and we’ll definitely come back! Giving 5 stars because I can’t give 10 :)

A beautiful place on top of Katapola. Some stairs to climb, but it is all worth it. Met by Christos at port. He helps with some luggage carrying if you have trouble. 2-3 min walk upstairs from port. Clean rooms. Quiet. Good sleeping comfort and a/c well working and not towards bed. Balconies to enjoy port and bay of Katapola. Well working wifi. They also have good cars at very good prices. A family run hotel which we highly recommend. Must be the top place to stay in Katapola.

One of the bigger pensions in Katapola, located In a very attractive building a bit above the village - only a little climb. The owner usually awaits his clients at the ferry. Nice rooms with balconies, tiny kitchen, coffee machine and fridge (which made so much noise that I had to turn it off during the night). Wi-Fi was promised but did not work at all where I was (ground floor). There is a library with books in all languages near the reception. No breakfasts available.
