An absolutely fantastic time was has at the Chryssi Akti Hotel in Batsi.
Visiting out of season, both the hotel and the town were very quiet, but it still proved to be a lovely base from which to explore the island.
With the weather just warming up, it was to be expected that the beach wouldn’t be ready with sun beds and umbrellas, but it was very much accessible and looked great under the blue skies and sunshine.
The room was a side sea view room, which looked right over the pool and the beach from a private balcony. It was basic but offered all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. One or or two of the features of the room were different to what was advertised (e.g. a much smaller than expected television) but everything else was to our satisfaction. The bathroom appeared recently refurbished and was really stylish with stone tiled walls and floors.
The cleanliness of the hotel and the quality of housekeeping was faultless. On arrival and following each day’s spruce up of the room, we were very pleased. On one day, our housekeeper even got creative with the bedsheet.
Breakfast here is simple and predominantly continental but it is adequate and being included in the room rate, cannot be complained about. As with the entire hotel workforce, breakfast staff are a delight; warm, friendly and really engaging.
For those preferring other options, there are a handful of restaurants and coffee shops in the immediate area and an AB Supermarket a short walk away too. That was well stocked and sensibly priced.
Sophia on reception was the highlight of our stay here. She was obviously very passionate about the island of Andros and keen to share her wealth of knowledge with us. With her annotated map, we hired a car and saw many of the sights that she recommended. There was a genuine interest in us as guests at the hotel and her regular checking in on the enjoyment of our holiday.
She assisted us as well with car hire and even secured us a good value taxi once we left Andros for Rafina (Athens).
This was a lovely hotel in a great location and with a great workforce too. I can’t wait to return.
EDITED 13/07/23 Returning last week for another short stay, the hotel was again fantastic, and showing huge improvements since our out of season stay last year.
The hotel was obviously fully booked but this did not mean that getting a bed on the beach or by the pool was difficult. In fact, regardless of time of the day, getting a spot in the sun was very easy. The pool area was empty for most of the day.
We were greeted in reception by Maria 1 and Maria 2 and they were a cheery pair - and helpful too - for all of our stay. The entire team across the hotel were equally as brilliant, with even housekeeping wishing one of us a happy birthday. Banners, balloons and confetti must’ve been the giveaway! But such a simple gesture was appreciated.
The beach in the summer comes alive. A lovely shady decked area with the most comfortable seats and plenty of beds and umbrellas too. Drinks can be ordered to your sunbed, if required.
Our seaview room up on the third floor was brilliant. The shower was better than we remember with hot water and great pressure too.
A definite favourite hotel and our go-to for all future...
Read moreIt had been a lot of years since we were last at the Chryssi Akti but finally we were able to travel earlier this month after cancellations in the past few years due to ill health.|The owners have not sat back and you can see they are diligently improving all areas of the hotel to keep up with customer expectations. |On the day of arrival we were catching an early ferry from Rafina to Gavrio so we had asked the hotel by email if we were able to leave our bags upon arrival. We were warmly told that not only would they arrange for an early check-in but they would also organise a taxi to collect us from the port. Everything went perfectly smoothly, the taxi was there and the check-in was a breeze. We had booked a Deluxe Double room with sea view and was greeted with a spotlessly clean and spacious room with a balcony overlooking the beach and bay over the road from the front of the hotel.|The hotel lobby was light and bright and the ladies on reception always greeted you with a warm and friendly smile whenever you walked through.|Breakfast was always tasty with a good selection of hot and cold items that was continually topped up when anything was getting low. Couldn't be faulted and we never went away hungry or unfulfilled.|Most evenings we would have a drink at the bar before heading into the main hub of the town for dinner which only took a few minutes walk around the bay. Therefore a great position, especially for those less able to walk, and no steps or hill to navigate. The young man who served the drinks, and whose name escapes me, was always looking out for us and we would always have a chat over a drink with him. Lovely guy and a credit to the team.|Whilst we were there the hotel team were erecting the floor and canopy on the beach for the summer season. We were a little too early in the year to be able to use the facilities but it looks very smart indeed.|All in all we were very impressed and we will be returning next May for another week - although this time we will go later in the month to take advantage of the beach facilities.|All too soon it was unfortunately time to leave and another taxi was waiting for us to return to the port having been booked in advance with the reception team. |Highly recommended and I'm sure you won't be disappointed if you decide upon the Chryssi Akti for your stay. Thank you to everyone for your kindness and warm welcome. We can't wait...

I recently stayed at this hotel and had mixed feelings about the experience. The hotel is located in arguably the best spot in the area—convenient, beautiful, and surprisingly lively, even though the island itself wasn’t crowded during that time. The hotel was nearly full, which shows how appealing the location is.
However, despite the excellent location and genuinely kind and helpful staff, the stay left much to be desired. There was a constant feeling that something was missing.
Towels for both the bathroom and the beach were only changed every three days, which felt insufficient, especially based on the room price. Breakfast was average at best, and the atmosphere in the dining area was uncomfortable—staff were in such a rush to clear tables that they often tried to take our plates before we had even finished. Essentials like soap weren’t restocked consistently, the iron was hard to get access to, and there was no running water in the beach shower area.
The pool area was also disappointing—tucked away in a corner, overcrowded with chairs, and generally uninviting. It was almost always empty, which says a lot.
Considering all this, the biggest issue is the price. For what’s being offered in terms of comfort and amenities, the cost per night felt far too high. It's hard to understand how the staff can be so nice, yet the overall guest experience so underwhelming—but unfortunately, that’s exactly how I felt...
