Excellent choice for vegans and quite a few options for those following whole food plant based diets. Simple Greek cuisine at its fresh, delicious, and vibrant best. It is usually hard to find "beans and greens" (which provided the bulk of the calories in the traditional diets) when eating out, even at traditional restaurants. It was a breeze here.
Staff were friendly and happy to accommodate our questions on ingredients (about animal broth in dishes, etc).
Oh, and the view and the sea breeze -- what else to seek from food away from home. You enter hungry, you leave full of tastes and colours, and super refreshed :)
Everything we ate was amazing, fresh and delicious. Hand-rolled stuffed vine leaves, stuffed tomatoes, fava, chickpea balls, fried potatoes, giant beans, sparkling fresh cooked beets with their leaves, tamarisks ("almirikia" - a delicacy available only for 1-2 months in the summer), and of course the Greek summer salad with tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, onion. etc. There were also amaranth greens but we did not (have space to) try them, as we ordered twice many menu items.
We asked for everything without added oil - everything came as we wished. Clean, tasty, and well presented food, full of colour and energy.
Overall, thank you all (especially the super mommy chef) for the great food and care. I look forward to come back.
Notes for vegans: (1) I did not ask to check whether the bread contains animal sourced ingredients, as we had our own bread with us. (2) The fries are cooked in a dedicated oil where no animal foods are fried. (3) The chickpea balls are cooked in oil where cheese is fried, but the super mommy chef offered to fry ours in new oil.
Lastly, a few suggestions for the super mommy chef and her team: (1) Maybe you should try the chickpea balls baked (not fried), to provide another super healthy option. (2) A healthier version of horiatiki salad could be made using boiled drained chickpeas instead of feta. (3) A vegan pie with greens and a boiled potato salad would be great additions, and I am sure your recipes would be delicious. (4) Please check the bread ingredients with your supplier so that the bread offered is without animal-sourced...
Read moreUnfortunately we did not get great service some reviewers did. Waiter was very indifferent, when we ordered goat, he told us it was not available and instead of recommending something else, he just stood by our table staring into the sea whilst we discussed what to have instead. He then brought us wrong dish plus told us that Greek pasta is same as risotto which it is not... and to top it all off, as we paid and still had wine in our glasses -he started to clear our table- removed glasses with water, plates and even place matts...it was a very bizarre experience. Food was ok. There are plenty of other great restaurants in Batsi, with great food and great service, so regrettably this one will not be a top...

And as if that isn’t enough, some of the nicest and most friendly people we’ve had the pleasure of meeting/dealing with! The owners and chef were themselves were walking around, personally serving, and making sure all were happy! Can’t recommend highly enough!
To the staff there: Thank You for adding to our amazing Greek adventure this year! :-)
