WARNING Don't expect silence at night in the Premium Superior Double! Nor any service or refund! The Halepo hotel is situated uptown and in a quiet area ..Some 20mim. walk from the old town and harbor facing the sea, that is if you book one of the 2 rooms at the front of the hotel. It's a nostalgic building from the early 1900's. & one should expect at least some class in service..., well i didn't! I booked a full week in advance in the so called "best room" (Premium Superior Double on the website) in the old part of the house facing the courtyard and the sea" at €160,- per night. It's the room on the first floor on the righthand side of the stairs that is so prominent seen on pictures on the website of the Halepo Hotel and once you enter the Hotel. However to my surprise i was placed in the front room on the lefthand side seen from outside although i had booked the front room on the right. Further more there wasn't an airconditioning.? Although the website says with airconditioning! I wasn't pleased with that at first but for the rest it looked allright and i didn't want to make a fuss and so i decided to let it be. Second night at about 1.30 am i woke up due to a loud noise of voices outside the hotel coming from the terras/courtyard in front of the hotel where this Premium Superior Double room has its view on. Some 12 people/ guests who checked in that afternoon were sitting in the courtyard being served several bottles of wine consequently making a huge noise. After 2 times speaking to the night porter at the reception, who btw turned out to be the one responsible for serving the wine way after midnight promised me to take action, i had to get out of my bed again and asked these people to quiet down which to no surprise didn't help and actually got into almost a fight.. The next morning the manager (probably the son of one of those sheepfarmer the kind that thinks he can run a classy hotel) 'apologized' to me and said that it wouldn't happen again. For me however felt that i couldn't take the risk of stayin' longer and have the rest of my stay there screwed again. I said i wanted to leave and have at least a refund for half that week (ca €560,-) He first said that according to the hotel policy only 5% could be given and it was me to blame that i hadn't been friendly to his guests who made the noise the other night. And then out of the blue he said he didn't like my attitude (he didn't like the truth)and he wasn't going give me anything.... I answered " be happy with it if you desperately need money so much" knowing there was nothing more for me than to take my loss of €560,- and leave. Fortunately (actually i should thank him for that) i found myself within minutes walking the most lovely place i could ever wish for called the Domo where i booked the top floor penthouse with a one million dollar view overlooking the sea and the old town of Chania still run by the Koutsoudakis family for over 50 years! A very descent family knowing the values of how to run a hotel with true class and style! The most warmth welcome i've seldom experienced in my life! From hell to heaven one could say. And so if your looking for genuine class and nostalgia i recommend you to see the Domo hotel rather than that fake Halepo place..where i booked one room with airconditioning but got another without! So in short: If you decide to book a room in the old part of the HALEPO Hotel be aware that for the old part of the house every move cq slamming doors and people in the hallway checking in and out at the reception is heard! Futhermore that ther are alcoholic drinks are served after midnight on the terras. And make sure beforehand there is an AIRCONDITIONING in that room!
Better go for the modern Irida Hotel or of course if you like to experience true nostalgia choose the Domo Hotel instead. Best advice that i can give is to check in that one of a kind penthouse (2 bathrooms, seperate bedroom and 2 other beds) on top of the DOMO HOTEL! It will cost you but it's worth...

A wonderful boutique hotel, just on the outskirts of Chania Town. Amazing staff, fab location, great rooms and a lovely feel. |Location - about 15 mins walk into the old town along the coast. Cross the road and walk down the road and the sea is more or less right there. Excellent for those not wanting to stay directly in the old town (parking is an issue) but close enough for evening meals etc. There is parking at the back of the hotel so no problem renting a car and finding somewhere to keep it. The Blue Restaurant is a few minutes down the road and a meal or two there is an absolute must as it's a great place for an evening meal with wonderful views across the sea.|Staff - all very very friendly (apart from the huffy lady who does the breakfasts!!) and everyone couldn't be more helpful.|Breakfast - one of the best I've ever had and included in the price. Plentiful supply of everything you'd expect with some interesting homemade dishes like spinach and ricotta pie if you're feeling more adventurous at breakfast! Grab as much as you like and sit outside in the garden or on the roof. The cats will keep you amused!!|Building - it was the old British embassy in Crete, so plenty of history and a lovely, lovely place to stay with the ornate fixtures and fittings and a feeling of opulence. Excellent location with the new archaeological museum behind. A tiny pool is up on the roof (more of a hot tub) with the roof terrace which is a great location in the evening to look across towards Chania old town with a drink. There are plenty of tables and loungers for the small number of guests this hotel accommodates.|Rooms - we had a family room which is 2 rooms with adjoining door. We had one room the kids were next door with the door always open and it worked really well. A good way of checking the cleanliness of a hotel is having a look under the beds. I tried that but it was spotless, so housekeeping staff do a great job. Everything you could want is in the room, including a fridge (doubles as a minibar), hairdryer, iron and ironing board etc. Extra pillows, blankets etc (not needed clearly at 35 degrees). Aircon works well and is not too intrusive. A little balcony is also included but the views are urban as rooms are generally set to the sides of the building, not the front. WIFI speeds are excellent and I was pulling about 130MB/s consistently, so excellent connectivity.||All in all, I highly recommend this hotel. For the price it's a bargain. I couldn't really fault it. Would definitely return in the near future. If you would like to visit Chania, I would highly recommend you shortlist this hotel...
