This was my first summer holiday since 2008 and my first ever solo trip abroad. I was quite nervous about this but my travel agent used to rep in Kos and recommended these apartments and Kos town. She recommended Lenaki as it is family run and she felt I would feel safe here. Now I haven't stayed in an apartment since 2008 and I am more used to City breaks in hotels, so it was a bit of a culture shock at first. For self catering accommodation facilities were very lilted. A tiny two ring plug in hob and a toaster. No oven and no sharp knives, limited cutlery. Since looking online I see this is pretty much the norm now. The insides yes are a little dates and could do with upgrading. However the apartment was clean and I was overjoyed as a solo traveler to have a 1 bedroom apartment not a studio. I would have preferred to have towel change daily but again I am used to hotels, more regular sheet change would again be preferable in the heat but it wasn't a deal breaker. Now onto the real positives. It is a 15-20 min walk to town or the beach. For me this was perfect you are on a quiet road out of town close to a few other hotels and apartments. So no excessive traffic noise or drunk revelers. For me this encouraged me to have a daily walk, one day i even did 20km going off to see the sights. I also felt extremely safe here. At first I was worried about walking alone at night but actually I felt very safe (and staff told me it wasn't an area I had to worry about being attacked etc). I found the staff to be lovely and friendly, especially as I was on my own and I would often sit at the bar and chat a while. I did also find the owners friendly. Their son speaks the best English and was very chatty but the owners do chat to you if you make an effort (just remember their English is limited they are far from rude). Some of the rules yes may seem harsh regarding food, drinks but they are a tiny family business trying to make a living in an industry dominated by large companies. In fact apparently there are very few small family run apartments left and they apparently are paid pretty poor rates from the holiday companies. I don't begrudge them needing people to buy food and drinks for them ( the aircon yes I would disagree regarding needing to pay that). To me drink prices were fair and I was happy to pay £7- £8 euros for a salad for lunch and buy a couple of drinks each day ( and I was on a very tight budget). I actually got chatting to people who holiday there very regularly and say they feel like family. I can see why. This holiday was so important to me as I was ill and run down and needed to relax. I have never felt so chilled in my life and I felt very welcome there. So in conclusion, they are not luxury apartments. You are in Greece staying in a budget apartment and to be fair I have stayed in some grubbier Chain hotels in England. If you go there not expecting luxury and you make an effort so support them buy buying some snacks and drinks and also make an effort to be friendly with them then they will be warm and friendly back. I enjoyed this holiday so much that I intend to...
Read moreStayed for a week and it suited our needs. It wasn’t as bad as some have said and not as good either. The staff seemed friendly and polite although the girl seemed to not understand English.Room was adequate with small Kitchenette table chairs etc. It was a little dated inside especially the bathroom.Set out with 2 storey apartment blocks spaced around. Pros; pool was nice Location-quiet Towels changed daily Beds made daily + washing up Grounds were well kept 6 pack of large waters at bar for €3
Bad points; dated, whole place needs some tlc and paint. Bathroom shower mixer tap was absolute rubbish. Tiled floor was filthy, my feet would be black walking on it. Air con €10 per night and it was musty smelling. No room to change on leaving day. Inside tv room seemed to be full of their family and not guests.
Wifi was absolute rubbish.I did a speed test and had around 1.5mbps. Wifi only available next to bar, signal unusable anywhere else. There’s a car park with a gate with access to apartments. They randomly lock it at different times so when you are bringing shopping in you have to walk the long way round past reception and guests sat at tables. Pool had sticky orange residue all along the deep end edge. Play area bit naff. Not much for kids to do. Food and drink expensive €4 for local draught beer, not even a pint! They only provide 1 toilet roll!! You have to buy your own? Never had...
Read moreFirst of all I have to say we enjoyed our stay at the Lenaki apts. Steve and his staff were first class. The pool area and bar were spotless and the grounds were very well maintained. Housekeeping were very efficient and pleasant. In my opinion the apartment we had, and I'm assuming they all were the same need modernisation. The kitchen was very basic. Only small cups so if you want your mug of tea or coffee first thing in the morning then take a mug, something lightweight and durable for suitcase travel. No tea towels, which I find hard to understand as plain white ones for the duration of your stay would not cost the earth. So again, take your own. The biggest disappointment for us was the shower. It was very small, the shower head would move by itself and end up causing a rather large puddle on the bathroom floor. Clean towels bath & hand were replaced everyday by housekeeping. As were our bed sheets. Essential items such as bottle opener, can opener, knifes, spatula and crockery for three people were also provided.
All in all we just got on with it and adapted to what we had. But then again I think that's one think us Brits do best. Would I recommend here, yes I would. I'm sure in time they will upgrade the apartments but with excellent staff and service you'll not go wrong staying here.
