We spent 2 weeks at Michalis for a much needed holiday. We stayed in the traditional studio, the only down side to this being there was no ground floor rooms available at the time & its 2 flights of stairs to the next floor where our studio was situated. The studio contained all you could need for self catering - fridge/freezer, kettle, toaster, 2 ring cooker, pots/pans etc. The bathroom was a challenge - you’re in Greece, possibly to be expected, however the shower flooded the bathroom floor every single time. The water was barely ever warm. The toilet was constantly leaking as it has a crack right around the bottom. Bathroom could really do with a refurb. The huge balcony had the sun on it all day & overlooked the amazing hills. Maria the cleaner did a great job & ensured we had everything we needed. Cleaning is every 3 days at request but this was more than enough for us. |The staff were truly amazing & could not do enough for us! Mark & Lorna were always on hand & boy do they have a fantastic sense of humour. They work so hard every day to ensure people are enjoying their time at Michalis, it was an absolute pleasure to see them every day. |The pool bar opens at 9am & you get a smile as soon as you’re seen. Great selection of food & drinks served at reasonable prices. We were slightly disappointed that it closes at 18:30 though. The gardens & pool are kept immaculately clean by Mark. Ilknur (favourably known to us as ‘first’ ) was very hospitable & we enjoyed the laughs we had. Local supermarket Bambam is 10mins walk away, just a short walk beyond that is the sea & a few restaurants. The busses also travel along the sea road at frequent intervals, however they can get very full! It’s 1.40€ pp from Psalidi to the Old town. A taxi to Old town is 8€ if flagged down, 13€ if pre booked. |A big thank you to you all at Michalis for making our holiday superb. Watch this space, we...
Read moreWe stayed in a two bedroom apartment on the ground floor at Michalis studios and apartments for 1 week with our teenage son. the apartment was well equipped with air conditioning in each of the bedrooms with a tv in the main bedroom. We also had a kitchenette with a kettle, toaster, two ring hob and fridge. What was nice was we did not have to pay any extra for the air conditioning, kettle or toaster. Everything was spotlessly clean and we had nice fluffy towels. The comments about the shower is correct it is small but we just used it with no major problems. Manos who runs the apartments ensures you have a great holiday and gave us a welcome meeting going through the local attractions and where to hire bikes. Manos also recommended some great local restaurants to visit. Manos also runs the bar and snack bar and cooks some great snacks to eat around the pool and serves a good selection of drinks. The prices are reasonable in comparison to the local bars and restaurants. Bike hire is at 25 euros per week at the local bike hire store safe wheels just round the corner from the apartments, We also visited the thermal springs which involved a hill climb on the bikes which is about 30-40 minutes from the apartments. The beach is very close and with the bikes went went round the coast towards Tigaki which has sandy beaches. I recommend hiring bikes as you can ride safely to Kos town on a dedicated cycle way which is safe for families. If I was returning to Kos I would stay with Manos at the Michalis studios...
