Acro suites is listed as a 5 star, Michelin key resort. However, if you’re looking for accommodations and service you’d expect based on those categories, I’d strongly recommend staying elsewhere. The resort is absolutely gorgeous and the staff left us a nice anniversary surprise one night but I’ve stayed at many resorts and had a MUCH better experience. Here are the reasons I wouldn’t recommend, (especially if you’re celebrating something as important as a 15th anniversary and are looking for a true, top tier 5 star experience) ||||-Pre-arranged (through hotel) airport transfer did not arrive. Flight was delayed and passport control took a while but this is typical. We searched inside and outside the airport before resorting to taking random taxi. Hotel claimed the driver was waiting but the airport is tiny- you couldn’t miss a driver with your name on a sign. ||||-no attention given to details: 1st suite was not properly cleaned (water closet dirty and toothpaste in sink) but we didn’t mention it since we were only staying one night. No body wash in 2nd suite (bottle in shower was lotion. Requested body wash but didn’t receive until last night). Rooms need retouches (toilet and sink finishes chipped). ||||-not very accommodating: cave suite wasn’t available for entire stay, so we had to book a dif category for first night. Instead of allowing us to relax and transfer to the next room, we had to leave the room and wait for 1.5hours. Understandable since we had 2 reservations but accommodating a guest for that short amount of time would seem to be a given at a 5 star establishment. ||||-inconvenient room location: cave suite located between 2 staff/housekeeping closets. I immediately voiced concern of the odd location because the staff obviously has to work, which means no privacy or quiet. As predicted, the next day when we were attempting to sleep, as it was a cold, rainy day, my husband had to resort to using headphones to drown out the noise from staff that could be clearly heard due to door location. After being disturbed for hours, I was promised by management we would not be disturbed again during our stay. The next morning- Same disturbances. ||||-persistent sewer smell from bathroom: this can’t always be avoided but can be addressed prior to guest checkin. As an attempt to not disturb my husband with maintenance; we opted to continuously burn incense and spray the room ||||-disruptive knocking sound above bed that my husband discovered was due to the fan blowing onto cabinet above the bed headspace. So, if you want to use the fan, you have to choose whether you want to keep the doors closed and endure the knocking noise or open the doors and risk hitting your head when standing. ||||-ceiling cover in bathroom area fell, resulting in being forced to call maintenance, as this seemed like it could be a safety issue. While the hotel staff had offered to send maintenance for the toilet smell and knocking cabinet, we were attempting to avoid needing maintenance, as it is a total disturbance. However, this issue left us with no other option. ||||-The manager came to the suite, wrote down issues and asked if there was anything he could do but we were checking out the next morning. He brought us a bottle of Prosecco and some strawberries and we were given the option to go to the sister resort’s buffet for dinner (which we declined since we were trying to relax and enjoy our last day as much as possible, despite the numerous issues). He arranged transportation to our next hotel at checkout (which we personally paid for) and we were given a parting gift of honey. ||||I’d strongly recommend the hotel implement better preventative measures to ensure guests get the experience they are expecting. Most, if not all, of the issues encountered during my stay could have been prevented. Guests do not travel to a 5 star resort to spend what should be a relaxing vacation being disturbed or allowing maintenance to fix issues that could be prevented with more attention and better...

Read moreSuggested Motto for Acro Suites: “To be, rather than to seem to be.”
Acro Suites presents itself as a five-star eco-friendly, boutique wellness resort—but under the surface, it operates with the inefficiencies and rigidity of a much larger hotel.
Let me start by saying: many guests clearly have a lovely stay here. And in different weather—sunny and warm, rather than wet and windy—we may well have overlooked some of the details that clouded our experience. But given the premium price point and Acro’s positioning as a high-end, bespoke resort, we came away feeling it didn’t quite deliver on its promise.
Where It Fell Short • Overstated Eco Credentials: Despite branding itself as eco-conscious, towels and sheets were replaced daily—often against our express requests. We declined several times, yet came back to fresh linens anyway. It felt more like box-ticking than genuine environmental intent. • Lack of Responsiveness: Requests and feedback weren’t meaningfully acknowledged. For example, each room is advertised as offering a selection of organic teas. Ours had none. We asked, were told only Lipton lemon tea was available, and despite following up, nothing changed. Similarly, coffee pods seemed to follow no clear policy—some days we were told to order them through room service; other days, they just appeared. It created a sense of disorganisation. • Climate Control Issues: Our room (XL Wave 919) was uncomfortably hot throughout our stay—even during a stormy 18°C spell. No heating was on, but the resort had disabled the air conditioning for “winter” (early May). We suspect the spa facilities below us created a constant underfloor heat. With no ventilation, we resorted to opening the door to gale-force winds just to cool the room. • Unusual Room Layout: Navigating our room at night was surprisingly difficult. One route to the bathroom involved a narrow passage, a step down, and a step up. The alternative was a tight squeeze past a console table. Neither was ideal in the dark, especially for a pregnant guest. • Too Many Touchpoints, Too Little Coordination: Service at Acro feels fragmented. One staff member drops towels (sometimes in plastic bags) outside rooms, another does the cleaning mid-morning, a different person arrives in the afternoon with water, someone else replaces glasses, and yet another does turn-down service. While this sounds luxurious, in practice it resulted in near-constant interruptions and a sense of churn rather than calm. • Breakfast Misses the Mark: Orders were accurate about 75% of the time—generously estimated. I was served caffeinated coffee despite requesting decaf (a particular concern during pregnancy), and milk alternatives were frequently missed. Special requests weren’t easily accommodated, and eventually we just stopped asking. The kitchen does what it does reasonably well—but don’t stray from the script. • Feedback Ignored: I raised several of these issues during our stay, including via the in-app questionnaire. No one acknowledged or followed up.
The Bigger Picture
These may seem like small things individually, but together they paint a picture of a resort that lacks the finesse expected at this level. It becomes clearer when you consider that Acro Suites sits beside its 300-room sister resort, Seaside, and appears to share many of its operational systems. Unfortunately, those big-resort processes don’t translate well to a boutique setting.
The Upside
To be fair, Acro does have plenty going for it: the views are stunning, the architecture is striking, and it’s clearly been built with high aesthetic standards. For some guests, especially in peak summer, these qualities may be enough to outweigh the operational kinks.
But for us—given the price, the promise, and what we know other boutique hotels can deliver—Acro Suites didn’t quite live up...
