This place is just lovely, from our room with a view of the bay, the beautiful pool, the owners Nicos and Angela and Anastasia who served breakfast and cleaned the rooms.||The rooms are large and immaculate and the bed was a king size with a memory foam mattress which meant we had an excellent nights sleep. There is a fridge, kettle and double electric hob and toaster (not that we did any cooking with all the wonderful restaurants in the resort). The bathroom is large with a shower over the bath, though typically Greek style where you have to hold the shower attachment over your head, but always hot water and powerful. There is a safe and air-con which is paid for separately but it's not expensive.||Breakfast, although the same everyday, was really good value; eggs, bacon and fresh tomatoes, Greek yogurt with honey and cinnamon(delicious), tea or coffee, orange juice and plenty of toast and jam.||The location is great, halfway up the hill overlooking the bay and in between the 2 beaches, though it is not so good if you have mobility issues as it is a good uphill walk getting back to the apartments.||Nicos and Angelina have the quiet bar open till 10.30, where Nicos will happily ply you with Raki, though you also get plenty of it for free after meals in all the restaurants.Watch out for his sisters home-made wine though...it's really strong!||We went to Agia Pelagia 2 years ago, we loved it but stayed in pretty awful accommodation previously, so we were amazed at this wonderful place and hope to be back next September.||Thank you for making our holiday...
Read moreHad an extended stay in a poolside apartment where there was excellent housekeeping, furnishings, and maintenance - inside and out. There were also good WiFi, furnishings, and electrical outlets in the apartment. An interesting mix of languages were heard during our stay. The family-owners of this 16-unit Aparthotel were consistently considerate, friendly, helpful, and respectful of guests. A break in the pleasantness occurred when a noisy group apparently bought drinks in the cafe to use the pool for an afternoon. |PennyStella was located about a kilometer from both Agia Pelagia and Ligaria beaches and there were easy to find, but steep, small shortcuts to the beaches. The walk from either beach (and the multiple restaurants and stores there) was fairly strenuous - most people drove or rode. |We had the veggie pizza and Greek salad at the PennyStella cafe - they were very good. |There was a seasonal supermarket about 150 m somewhat uphill from PennyStella and it had a good, reasonably priced selection of items for self-catering. |Across the road from PennyStella was a chapel, Ekklisia Agia Marina (well-attended feast day ~July 17), that regularly attracted tourists to its courtyard for photo ops of Agia Pelagia and the seaside. |PennyStella’s pool was another major attraction - good-sized and well maintained. |Bus stop #A13 for Heraklion’s Port bus station (3-5 daily - details on the KTEL website) was just outside...
Read moreVery nice, family owned place, a community where all guests are treated like family members. Rather small, but typical Greek (Cretan) hotel. Very authentic if you look for some traditional place. Clean and welcoming, we enjoyed the family restaurant a lot, the ambiance and the food and selection of drinks was satisfying. Owner and his family members were so welcoming, always adding some personal touch. The home made pies (desserts) was amazing. Enjoy this place if you look for traditional heritage, small, Greek style hotel, owned by the family. The views and pool was super nice, sometimes we were the only ones there, at the pool area. And personal thanks for sirtaki dancing, with the crashed plates (as the tradition says), that was so much fun! Definitely would return. And yes, all you need is just around the corner, go down the hill for two beaches, all the cafes and restaurants, super market is just one minute away and always ask hosts for the extra service if you wish to rent a car, boat or more - they will give the best deals;)
Oh, and cross the street for visiting the church. It has nice spot for the view of rising sun.
Many thanks for hosting us! P.s. And it is much more beautiful than can be seen in booking...
