We booked this hotel due the multitude of 5 star reviews - I don’t think it warrants a 5 star review personally but let’s remember that this hotel is a 2 star establishment and it is a very good 2 star place. ||Starting with the positives:||The location is fantastic right in the middle of the village and close to restaurants, supermarkets and the beach.||The breakfast is wonderful - fresh bread, breadsticks, cheese, ham, boiled eggs, veg, Greek yoghurt, honey, cereal, hot food and pastries plus tea, coffee and juice.||The one bed apartment we had was large with plenty of storage and comfortable beds. Bins emptied every day.||The hotel was small, friendly and quiet which aided a great nights sleep. ||And now the negatives:||The towel changes are meant to be every 3 days but we waited 5 on one occasion and had to ask. In my opinion towels should be changed on request or every 2 days at least. ||The pool and sunbed area is small so often there were no beds available. ||The balcony on our room was small as was the kitchenette area. ||Breakfast was often very busy with a wait for a table or then a queue for the excellent but slow coffee machine. ||Some of the rooms have shared balconies which isn’t disclosed - in my opinion these rooms should be charged less for. We got assigned one on our late arrival and the following morning we requested a room change which was given after a bit of a discussion!||The showers are typically Greek and cannot be held up on the wall so you have to hold it in your hand and end up soaking the floor! ||All in all we had a lovely holiday - we hired a car from the place opposite and visited many tourist places much cheaper than the organised tours. ||In the village we enjoyed many restaurants with favourites being Locus Deli, Maki’s and Geronymous.||We found Panormos a bit too small for 2 weeks but enjoyed the quaintness of the village.||There is a lovely dog on the property next door who we bought tennis balks for and played with him daily. I’d be grateful if others could...
Read moreA wonderful little hotel hidden away in the town of Panormos in Crete. We were in a room right by the pool with a little terrace furnished with a table and chairs overlooking the pool. Whilst we we there (mid July) it was fairly quiet, an oasis of calm where we could sit with a glass of something chilled before making our way out for our evening meal. The room itself was spotless with the most enormous superking bed. The air con was really quiet and very effective, we did nt have it on throughout the night as the room was quickly chilled. The ensuite bathroom was quintessentially Greek with bins emptied daily by the wonderful cleaning ladies. The kitchenette was hardly used by us but was well provisioned for 3 people and spotlessly clean. We ate breakfast in the hotel - 8 euros for hot drinks, juice, toast, cold meats and hot food (bacon, eggs, sometimes little omelettes) and various bakery items, all delicious. Eleftheria, on the front desk and often on breakfast duty was so kind and welcoming and I must mention the wonderful Andreas who was an absolute mine of information about the local area and was incredibly helpful to us. Indeed we met nothing but kindness and warmth from all staff at this hotel. On our final day we had a late transfer but were able to leave our cases at reception and to use the pool and restroom facilities (there is a shower in the restroom). Panormos itself is lovely, with wonderful craft shops (we brought back some handmade pottery from Virtuosity and olive oil, honey and raki from local shops). The beaches in the town are a delight, our favourite because it had sun loungers (10 euros for 2 beds and 1 brolly) and also a beach bar, was towards the west of the town, approximately 5 mins from the hotel. Indeed all 3 beaches were just minutes from the hotel. All are sandy and safe. Eating out was a pleasure. Our favourite was Steki, a more traditional taverna (dates from 1948). We only came for a week but we will return and will certainly be staying at the...
