We spent one week in Naxos. We had a car for the full duration, which we collected upon arrival at the port in Naxos Town. The journey to the Kalimera was about 15 minutes which we followed on Google Maps. Initially we were slightly disheartened with the location as it is quite rural however once we got our bearings we enjoyed visiting Agios Anna beach (3 minutes by car or 12 minutes at easy pace walking), with its many stylish restaurants on the beach (we really rated Avli as you walk from Aghia Anna toward Prokopios Beach. We preferred to drive and sunbathe at the larger Plaka Beach as having a car meant we could travel to the far side of the beach (in front of Plaza Beach Hotel) where it was quieter and we could get 3 x sunbeds and a shade for 8 euros (bargain!!). We visited Plaza Beach hotel for a basic lunch as it was just across the road and also a dip in the pool. They also have a supermarket next door before we headed back to Kalimera wso e would grab some provisions from the supermarket next to the hotel. Bear in mind you cannot drink the water in Naxas but it is cheap to buy but not light to carry! Also another tip if you have a car, travel out to the far end of Plaka beach to the Medusa apartments, again they are great for a lunch stop with cocktails, pool and direct access to a lovely beach. Our 2 bedroom apartment (number 18) at Kalimera was to the side on ground floor, so no view but it was nice to park our car right beside the apartment. ||We were pleasantly surprised by the pleasing decor of the property, the apartment was very nicely maintained, clean and spacious. Our apartment master bedroom also had a new large TV with English channels (very much appreciated by the hubby!). The aircon in both bedrooms was effective and cool, when required. At night the apartment was very dark and quiet. Wifi was excellent in the room and by the pool, which we had to ourselves most of the time. The pool was clean and refreshing with great poolside loungers and furniture. Breakfast was excellent, consisting of homemade Naxos produce, we all found something we enjoyed from the chocolate cake, cereals, rice puddings, greek yoghurt, frittata, brushetta, cheese and spinach pies and pastries. The chilled tea was made with local herbs/flowers/honey and was devine. We also felt very surprised and spoilt when provided with iced coffees and home made chips with oregano and garlic puree whilst chilling at the pool on a couple of occasions. Given this property is only a 2 star I was very impressed with the overall care, maintenance & cleanliness. The rooms were made up every day and both bathroom towels and pool/beach towels were provided, there were even free sunshades to use to take to the beach if required. We very much enjoyed our stay at the Naxos Kalimera Hotel and I would recommend it, especially if you get a hire car too but at least you can walk to some lovely beaches and a great selection of...
Read moreThere is not enough I can say about This hotel and staff. Although it’s approximately 20 minutes from City Cenyer, it’s the perfect location. I was 10 minutes walking distance from Gia Anna beach which is surrounded by many places to eat. The bus station is right in front of pier to take you to Hora. For an additional twenty minutes you can walk to Plaka beach which is just as beautiful. I moved along three spots just to get a different taste. There is a nudist section also open to those who want to wear their bathing suits. I thought of it more of an all adult beach. ||The owner Voyla is very friendly and goes out of her way to ensure you have a great stay. She assisted with with arranging a bus tour through Naxos Bus Transfer. She provided me with a snack bag on day of tour: delicious chocolate bread slices. ||The daily breakfast is delicious. I started my day with traditional coffee made by Ms. Voula and assorted pastries, breads and omelette suggested. There are also juices, tea and cold cereals available. ||The room is huge in comparison to other islands like Santorini and Mykonos. A refrigerator and stove top with pots is provided. ||The bed was spacious and comfortable and the bathroom even has a bathtub. I was able to enjoy the lovely swimming pool. The unofficial host is “Mickey Mouse”, the owner’s dog. I’m not a dog person but he won my heart. ||If I were to return to Naxos, I would definitely return to this hotel. ||I was even more grateful after having checked out and realizing an hour later that I had left my passport, credit cards and cash in the fault. Ms . Voula sent her driver to meet me at Hora port. I am so grateful to her...
Read moreThe best hotel choice we ever made on a greek island! Forget about cleanliness, safety, price etc. It is flawless in all of this and the rooms are cool, renovated, with AC, fridge, kitchen stoves and TV.||||The service is really not of this world! The breakfast is a taste of Greece. The fragkosika (prickly pears-exotic fruit from a plant like a cactus) which Voula brought from south Italy and peals every morning (one of the most difficult fruit to peal), the honey balls (greek traditional sweet), the souffle and so on, the excellent traditional greek spoon sweets, the delicious yogurt and grapes from the vineyard directly beside the hotel. An authentic greek breakfast which I don’t think I will meet anywhere else again. ||||The reception is wonderful with ice tea from herbs of the island and the bottle of Raki which expects the guest at the room made me wonder what else could someone ask for. The humor of Voula introduces you directly to the atmosphere of the island.||||Apostolis on the other hand is more than willing to drive you to and from the beaches (the best beaches of the island with golden sand are nearby), while the transfer to and from the airport-port is included. He is also a great conoisseur of the bars and tavernas of the island. Just tell him what you would like to do and he will give you multiple choices to choose from.||||I could go on and on writing but I stop here. I felt shame to pay such a low price for all this dream! If you are looking for something extra for your holidays, Voula and Apostolis will make sure they provide you with something more than that. I am really jealous of anyone who is there at this moment!||||Greek hospitality...
