Akrogiali Restaurant- Studios — Restaurant in Municipality of Naxos and the Lesser Cyclades

Considering how amazing the reviews are, we were incredibly disappointed with our dinner here. The Horta was bland, aubergine in the clay pot was more cheese than aubergine, and the lamb and meatballs were both okay. The sardines were delicious. But the worst thing was we ordered fresh calamari, paying €4 more than the calamari labelled as frozen on the menu, but when they arrived they were so hard and chewy, certainly didn’t taste fresh. After letting the manager know, she didn’t take it from the table, just proceeded to reassure us on how fresh it was. We didn’t eat any of it, and at the end of the meal got charged. Upon asking for it to be removed from the bill, she said now that the receipt had been processed she ‘couldn’t’ take it off the bill, even though we told her as soon as we tried it that we wanted to send it back! Furthermore, after finishing our food, no waiter came to clean it up, so we sat in 28 degree heat with our finished dishes under our noses, all the while the waiters were walking around with empty trays. The location is the only good thing of this place.

The service is plain bad: our waitress got our order wrong and then she tries to blame it on my son, although the real problem was that she was talking to someone else while taking our order. She was so distracted that at some point, I just stopped talking until she realized and apologized and I could continue ordering. In their defense, once we clarified that my son did not order what they brought him, they prepared the correct dish.

And then the food: everything was mediocre, octopus was extremely bad, saganaki cheese was super bad, the beef burger was ok but it took them forever to make.

Once the time to pay came, the waitress sent me inside but did not even bother telling the man inside which table it was, so he had to send someone else to check the table number. While I was waiting, one of the more experienced waiters was treating a young waiter like trash.

First off this has to be some of the worst food I’ve ever had. My Moussaka was cold and tasted awful and my wife’s dish was not any better. I also bought a bottle of wine that was 16 euros but after opening it told me they were out of it and gave us a more expensive bottle of wine. So my bill was higher than expected. I don’t understand how this restaurant has 4.5 stars when the food was this awful. I have had better food at McDonalds and that’s pretty sad to say. I would rather eat garbage out of a dumpster than to ever eat at this restaurant again. My stomach doesn’t even feel great and I’m wondering if I might have food poisoning.
