Furthest from luxury.
We checked in yesterday, and there was no electricity. The apartment manager said "It will be in 30 minutes, maybe one hour." Two hours go by, nothing.
In the meantime, we notice several things missing: a knife to cook (only butter knives) pool towels, a wine key - not to mention things like "slippers" which were mentioned on the profile as part of the "luxury" package. We asked the apartment manager if we could have the basic items (knife, wine key, towels) and he kept us waiting for 3 hours.
Conversation was difficult, as the manager barely speaks English - only Greek. How can you operate a hospitality business (advertising to foreigners) if you can’t communicate with your guests? As we wait, the electricity goes on and off, twice.
When he finally arrived three hours later, we asked him about the delay and unresponsiveness, and he immediately became aggressive - threatening with "Be careful! I work all day, fixing many problem, if you want to check out tomorrow, do that - go!" I’ve traveled around the world for nearly two decades and worked in hospitality for ten years, I’ve never experienced someone this rude and unprofessional - blaming the shortcomings of the establishment on its guests.
Finally, the property advertises a "sea view" and "view of the historic town." The view is of the airport, a parking lot, and your neighbor’s balcony. What’s more, the main bedroom is in the basement, and the only window looks into the pool. Who comes to a gorgeous Greek island to have a view of the bottom of a pool?
The previous reviews must have come from family and friends, asked to boost their ratings.
We checked out this morning and paid for a new hotel.
PS: Since writing, the host has marked my husband as “Did not check in” so he’s unable to review the hotel on Booking! So blatantly dishonest, it’s...
Read moreA truly negative experience. The villa itself was ok, plenty of space and clearly newly built - although far from being a “luxury” facility (cheap furniture, odd design choices like underground master bedroom). The reason for my 1 star rating was the treatment we received from the property manager: first, he spoke little to no English, which is unusual for a luxury hotel; second, at check-in there was no electricity in the entire structure and he basically told us “electrician will arrive, but I don’t know when” and provided zero information for the following three hours. Third, we asked to bring a few small missing items (knives, a wine cork, towels), and he showed up three hours late - with defective ones. Fourth, he became rude and borderline aggressive to my wife when she mentioned that it was a quite underwhelming experience so far (“be careful to how you speak”). Fifth, he invited us to “check out if we didn’t like the place” instead of trying to provide a better experience to the guests. Sixth, and final, he lied on booking.com and marked me as no-show so I could not review the property on the website. I have never seen such unprofessional behavior in the hotel industry, and would suggest to the owners of the hotel to reconsider who they hire as front office. There are a million better options on Naxos for a fraction...
Read moreWe had a Great stay at your House! Thank you for your hospitality and very warm welcome. Thank you Lefteris for your great explanation about the island! Everything was fine in our Appartement No 2, very comfortable beds, lovely pool with a great sunbed, large tv, lot of kitchen inventory from coffee machine to microwave and water kettle. Next to our ground floor we had a basement with another bedroom/bath and a cool view into the pool! So you can easily stay with 4 people.
We were picked up by his father at the harbor and also returned to the harbor. Thank you once again, no one else during our island hopping did this for free for us!!!!
Thank you also for your help in getting a motor bike! You definitely need something to commute across the island. The accommodation is 15-20 minute walk from the beach. If you do not mind, you can walk, but in the heat (even in September), and along a street without footpath this is quite exhausting. The motor bike also offers you the possibility to explore the island and easy to find parking spaces.
The Appartement is close to the airport and you can see an hear the planes. Only very small planes are landing at Naxos and only very limited, so for us (living next to Frankfurt airport) all fine. For us a 10 out of 10, we can recommend Kalea Luxury Appartments! Warm greeting...
