We recently stayed at this hotel and, on the surface, it has all the basics you’d expect – clean rooms, decent pool area, and the amenities you need for a holiday. However, our experience was spoiled by the attitude of the management team.|We were told there had been a complaint about our 2-year-old and 4-month-old grand children being “too noisy” around the pool. This came as a complete surprise as our grand children were simply playing as toddlers do, and all the other guests we spoke with had no issue whatsoever. In fact, many of them were warm and friendly, especially towards our 26-year-old autistic son who was also travelling with us. Guests engaged with him positively and enjoyed his company – except for the managers, who clearly seemed to have a personal issue with him.|What was presented as a “noise complaint” felt more like an excuse to single him out, which was deeply upsetting. Holidays should be a welcoming and inclusive environment, and unfortunately the management here failed to show understanding or compassion. We then made the decision to spend the rest of our holiday by another pool, where we were made to feel much more welcome, only returning to the Eriva pool late in an afternoon. |Our son can be quite over friendly and wanting to talk to everyone, but we always made sure everyone was ok with him talking to them. In fact some people even mentioned that he made their holidays and that they missed him when he wasn’t by the pool. |On a positive note, we want to highlight the wonderful staff who made a real difference to our stay. The cleaning team kept everything spotless, the receptionist was helpful and friendly, and the pool bar lady, Spirrie, was especially lovely throughout our time here – always welcoming, kind, and a real credit to the hotel.|To summarise: the hotel provides the basics, and the day-to-day staff are fantastic, but if you are travelling with young children or someone with additional needs, be aware that you may not feel supported or respected...
Read moreI first visited Acharavi 14 years ago and stayed here. Whilst the owners have changed since then, the property has remained just as great as I remembered.
Holidaying with my mother on our first trip abroad with just the two of us, it was clear where we'd end up going. Corfu is a gorgeous place that boasts beautiful seaside towns and gorgeous mountains.
Upon arrival we were greeted by the hotels receptionist who was incredibly kind and made us feel welcome immediately.
The rooms are standard but clean and have everything you could need for a holiday. Where this property really shines is the food service and hospitality of the staff and owners.
Not one meal was a disappointment. We ate at the hotel more days than anywhere else, partially due to convenience but also due to the fact that their menu is large and offers both Greek food and home comforts. I was particularly fond of the feta in pastry with honey and sesame seeds. We also had steak one night that was cooked perfectly to our preferences (possibly the best steak I have ever eaten!).
The owners are so welcoming, friendly, funny, and happy to have a conversation. One of the owners, Anna, was so sweet and fun to talk to, and had a very lovely conversation with me. She remained a delight throughout our holiday.
The location is perfectly between the beach and the main shopping street and travel agents, making it easy to go on trips around the island, or explore nearby on foot.
My only complaints would be that the WiFi wasn't great at times, which I suppose isn't much of an issue if you aren't relying too much on using it, and the bar could be loud into the early hours depending on the day.
The hotel also hosts events, such as live singers and cultural Greek nights (accompanied by a tasting menu and Greek dancing).
The pool was also great and a lot of fun!
Family friendly with a very relaxed atmosphere, and no job was too big for the very helpful staff.
Overall a fantastic location to stay at, hopefully we will be...
Read moreThe self catering holiday was booked through Jet2 and on arrival Friday 16-05 it was absolutely lashing down with rain! The apartment was at the end of the block on the 1st floor with a sea view and came with a room with double bed and nice balcony and the other room had 2x single beds and a Juliet balcony. The kitchen was very basic 2x electric rings 1x large the other small, a standard size fridge with small freezer compartment and a kettle, no facility to make toast. TVs are in both bedrooms but all channels are Greek with no access to Sky news and the WiFi connection is very poor. However, The main thing was it was clean.| The toilet/shower facilities as expected for Greece.| The bar/restaurant area is located behind the pool and in my opinion, resembled a cricket pavilion/conservatory and not really appealing to sit and have a drink even with a large flat screen TV at one end. There is a good supermarket about 10 minute walk from the back of the hotel and another 5 mins walk to the centre of Acharavi. In the other direction along the beach to the left is a long walk to Roda and to the right a few bar/restaurants a couple of which are expensive food wise. If you like to lie on the sand sunbathing the sea shore is pebbly at the end of the road and there are a lot of sunbeds outside the bars for hire. I hired a car for 4 days to get out and about as there is little to do in resort other than eat, drink and shop.|I must give the receptionist and the cleaning staff a lot of praise, they were lovely, helpful and always smiling. You will have to pay for tourist tax, safe key and air conditioning.| There are building development sites active along the shore towards Roda to...
