Eleana Nature & Art — Hotel in Municipality of Sfakia

The outstandingly thoughtful and sensitive design of the rooms together with remarkable reviews is what has brought me to Eleana's in the first place. Having the opportunity to touch and feel the atmosphere myself, it was clear from the very first moment that Eleana’s is not just another accommodation nor is she a typical host.

The property, while not being small, keeps the homey, welcoming feel but in a very discrete and non-intrusive way. The rooms truly are spotless and extremely well maintained on a daily basis, with fresh linen and convenient high quality offerings chosen with care, every other day or so. Unique wall artwork, authentic decorations and tonal balance is everywhere around you. This provides a very clean, comfortable, safe and nurturing surrounding for the guest to immediately connect with and be able to immerse her/himself in the peace and tranquility of the place to the fullest.

Strong sense of aesthetics and sensitivity to details can be found in every corner but their presence is perfectly natural and unpretentious. Things here are not staged, things are not forced either. Here, things simply are, standing in all their beauty and genuine existence.

With many layers which add to the authenticity and charm of the place, the personal and caring approach of the host makes the biggest impact. Being a guest here is a status. A receptive and responsive person with a little ability to understand another will see nothing but, and be flooded with kindness.

If you plan on going to Sfakia and the southern part of Crete, this is the place to stay :) Before reading further, it's important to note that the accommodation might not be a good fit for anyone who can't go up/down stairs too much.

Eleana is such a wonderful host, she was very welcoming and very helpful. The three of us were travelling together (a couple and a friend) and we stayed in the apartment for 8 nights, and 2 double rooms for the last 2 nights.

The apartment was an excellent option for us because the 2 rooms each have their own bathroom and key, but they have a common balcony (with sea view). This option is also very good for 2 couples travelling together since you can hang out on the balcony. One of the rooms has a small kitchen (stove, fridge, coffee maker, sink), and the other has only a fridge and coffee maker.

The double rooms were also very comfortable and a good option for anyone not looking for a kitchen in their room since you only have a coffee maker and a fridge.

All of the rooms were very clean and new (we stayed in July 2021 - a month before our stay the accommodation was completely renovated). There is daily cleaning as well.

The accommodation is near the Vrissi beach and the city center (3min walk).

We were tied by the reviews of Eleana, but unfortunately had a slightly different experience. Room was dirty, sand, dirt, hair, completely frozen fridge, mopping water in toilet, stains on floor, used shower gel and stains on bed linen was among the welcoming findings on arrival. Beach towel was only available on day of check-out, two days later. Check-in experience wasn’t the most welcoming either. Although location is perfect, just 5 minutes away from the centre, view is great, but we didn’t got the room pictured (pictures showing similar type rooms and it’s a surprise which one you’ll get) in the reservation on Booking.com.
