Simply The Best Tavern in Sfakia!

Obrosgialos is an absolute must-visit in Sfakia. The location right next to the open sea provides a stunning view and a fantastic atmosphere. The colors that are brought in the sky during the sunset are truly one of a kind! As for the staff, honestly they are the friendliest of folks out there. They are really happy to serve you and it’s truly heartwarming to see. Not to mention that after our meal, they treated us to watermelon and Sfakian pie, which were excellent!

The seafood is incredibly fresh and the portions are huge, offering amazing value for the price (you can see a few of the plates we tasted below). For the combination of delicious food, generous servings, and a perfect seaside setting, this is hands down the best tavern in the area. I’ve been plenty of times in the general area of Chania and I have to confess that this is definitely in my top 3 places to eat that I’ve visited during my multiple stays, and most definitely the best of the current one. 5 stars well deserved. The restaurant is located at the beginning of a whole series of restaurants on the bay of Chora Sfakion. The service is fast and attentive. Even individual guests are supplied with a 1. 5 litre water bottle.

I start with “Zucchini Balls”. They’re hot and fresh, with a Tsatziki that really deserves the name. The main course is Sfakian Risotto (“with Shrimps and Ouzo”), the taste is disappointingly boring, mainly tomatoes. The open white wine I ordered with it has too much acidity. Dessert remains simple as well: raki and watermelon.

Conclusion: One visit is enough.

This little tavern by the sea has an exceptional cuisine made with love! The fish is served exactly as it should, the pasta and specifically the Ahinopasta is an amazing delicacy and overall all menu items are just spectacular. Highly recommend! Service is also always fast and great. Its nice to be treated with a smile and a cold Raki!
