Hotel Roulis — Hotel in Municipality of Southern Corfu

I’d read that this hotel was pretty basic, but it still surprised me!|What’s good - the room was clean, the view from our top floor room was great looking down to the beach and sea about 10 metres away. We only had a 4 night stay but sheets were changed once, and I think towels were changed each day apart from one. |As for the “basic” - the room consisted of 2 single beds (not particularly comfortable), a plastic chair, a small homemade wardrobe and a small shower room.|We had to pay €5 per day for the aircon. When we arrived at 10pm it was 32C in the room!! Full aircon on, windows closed, it was 29C at 1am and still 25C at 8am. In retrospect would probably have been cooler with no aircon and windows wide open. It was the same everyday when we returned late afternoon - 26-28C and never achieved the 23 we were advised to set it at. I’ve never had to pay extra for aircon before, but €5/day when it is essential but doesn’t really work is ridiculous. Booking.com have told us we cannot get and money back.|The shower was the smallest I have ever known, you couldn’t turn round without pulling the shower curtain all over the place. The shower head bracket was damaged so it pointed back towards the wall so you have to hold the shower head to get a reasonable wash.|Worst was the toilet. It refused to flush No2s!! Many many attempts later we ended up having to push it round the u-bend each time. Not pleasant.||The price for this hotel was cheap, but not the cheapest. But I cannot recommend it and I will definitely pay slightly more for better accommodation next time we visit. Basic hotel but very clean Lamprini who runs hotel is excellent very friendly and informative could not enough for us We had breakfast brought to our room every morning basic but very good. ..Had a problem with a German couple arguing and banging furniture about until 1 o clock first night that we got there and again in morning they left .Made a complaint to Lamprini who did go and speak to them She moved us to a room with sea view.Could not blame her these things happen but did put damper on begining of holiday .Hotel is right next to Kostas Taverns our room overlooked it nice place to eat ..We really enjoyed our stay at the Roulis and found it to be an excellent base for our holiday .Would recommend the Roulis to anyone who wants a nice friendly hotel with no frills .We would definitely return here as we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here We loved Messonghi and will...
